I bet James Allen wish he was Massa in that photo.
Sadly the lens would be covered in dribble if it was.

Massa:
"I did a great lap, but it was not enough to be on pole position. Today, we lacked a bit of speed compared to our main rivals but the race is very long and, over a distance, we know we can be very competitive and therefore we are capable of fighting for the win. The start? It will be difficult to do a repeat of Budapest, especially as the start-line straight is shorter than at the Hungaroring. Then, we will have to see what the various strategy choices are and obviously, how the weather evolves. If it was to rain, the race could be turned into a lottery."
Baldisserri:
"My compliments to Felipe, who did a fantastic lap on his second run in Q3. It's a shame that a mistake at Turn 7 probably cost Kimi at least one grid position. We knew our main rivals would be very strong, especially in qualifying, but we are still convinced that we can be on the pace tomorrow in the race, which is when the points are given out. It will be a tough race, in which it will be vital to manage any situations that might arise as well as possible. If it is run in the dry, it will be important to monitor how the tyres perform over a long distance, given that neither yesterday nor today was it possible to do a lot of laps consecutively. The F2008 worked well and also the performance of the tyres over the first timed lap was up to our expectations."
I'm sure anyone 2nd on the start grid is quietly confident... hell I suspect Hk and KR are quietly confident...
I think this thread is more exciting than the football
Quickly saves away JRS' comment for the record

ok there is 3/10th's difference between LH and FM - which MIGHT be accounted for by difference in fuel loads (although I highly doubt there is that much in it)
Why has the Ferrari lost the ultimate speed though (as they were 12mph or so faster through the speed trap)
Surely this means that around the same lap the Ferrari is losing more speed in other areas?
There is bound to be rain at some point, and with changable conditions it should make for a very interesting race
Roll on next season and it's back on BBC. I hope BBC do not employ any of these morons from ITV.
1. Speed Trap: Mclaren's engine has more grunt typically (all things being equal). Also the Mclaren is slower than the Ferraris in S2 I think.
2. Massa did leave the pits earlier, which unquestionably points to heavier fuel load. In addition, LH was the last person to set a fastest lap. I.e. since more rubber was laid and track temperature went up, and the track was more greener.
So these combinations all contribute Im sure.
In addition, Im sure you know that top speed through the speed trap does not equate to fastest time around the track (just pointing out).
Didnt Massa also do another run, maybe not - I do remember LH on their final timed runs only being a few seconds behind FM (and a few ahead of KR) but just because FM had started his run earlier, surely he must have done an extra lap to be that close at the end (unless he dawdled for a time during his warm up lap which doenst make sense)
Either way Im not entirely convinced FM has got 3/10's more fuel or anything like that extra over LH - if he does then I will happily admit Im wrong
No I know speed trap figure doesnt mean anything to the final lap time in general (-: however spa is laps are like 60-70% pedal to the metal arent they? 12mph difference is a lot to lose I would suggest even with the 3/10's adjusted for fuel
Asked in Belgium if he sensed the championship boiling down to a straight head-to-head contest with Massa, Hamilton said: "For sure we are both very close. He's obviously on top of his game, extracting the most out of his car and they are a strong team together.
