If you're interested in seeing what the tracks look like I've updated my Google Earth links and flyovers. Unfortunately it's still not perfect, although Fuji is now high res thanks to the April update but the imagery for Valencia is a fair age so the purpose built bridge isn't visible. To play the flyovers select the flyover folder and press the play button at the bottom of the Places pane.

A wet race would be AWSOME!

(this has nothing to do with me watching from home and not the uncovered bank at Club like I have the last 3 years, honest, lol)

I'd settle for a 2003-esque race, minus Neil Horan. Obviously, I'd love to see action like you got waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, but 2003 was pretty good. I only remember the result from most recent ones - I can actually recall details from the '03 race (and not just the mad de-frocked priest running along the Hanger straight ).

I tell a lie - I remember bits of the '04 race as well. Mainly off the back of Schumacher's French GP the previous race weekend. Most of the front runners stopped six times over the two GPs - three and three. Schumacher did four and two, and won both :)

It's slightly sad when pit strategy determines who wins, but when Ferrari hoodwinks the entire grid I can't help but admire it :D

Heh was that the crazy irish priest that ran on the track with banners and stuff? :D

I agree with Ferrari's strategy. It was something only someone like MS could pull off (maybe Alonso too).

I got sunburnt last weekend, so no doubt ill get brunt again this weekend. Im really looking forwards to this, a bit of rain always spices up the event, this will be my 7th year, think next year ill be going to a European event as it will probably be cheaper. :)

yay i'm going. I've been before, 2006, but had tickets for Copse. this time i've just got general admission tickets through a friend, where's the best place to sit? Is it possible to get a decent view at Becketts?

IMO no, becketts is the futhest from the track of anywhere around the circuit, id recommend anywhere around Club for the best view without Fences getting in the way... the exit being particularly nice.

thanks for that, shall get there nice and early to get a good spot. on a photo note, do you know if 200mm is enough reach for shots at club (if there are no fences I might take my camera...)

I recently made This Post on TP, this shows pretty much all the main photo ops around the track, Club is pretty much the only corner youd get away with 200mm

Tip for those going: take some sun cream and apply regularly. I manage to burn every single time I go to Silverstone regardless of what the weather is doing!
I'm peeling quite bad after last weekend! Redness has gone now mainly though. The peeps at work thought I went to Glastonbury :p

Yep. God-damned moron also interfered with the men's marathon at the '04 Olympics, ruining Vanderlei De Lima's race.

Funny that you mention Alonso....because he was the one that forced Ferrari into the four-stop strategy in France that year. Alonso had a potentially faster package on the day, and it wouldn't have hurt Ferrari all that badly to settle for second given the year they were having. But why settle for second when you can stop once more, run the race on lower average fuel levels, have to make up a ****-load of time and really make things difficult for yourself in order to grab the win? :D

Toyota join forces with Batman
The Batmobile will even take to the track on Thursday evening for a demonstration run alongside the TF108.

Ive got to see that, ill be down there by Thursday afternoon, i need to find more details about when exactly the Batmobile will be on track and how i get access. :)

:( just got off the phone with Silverstone circuit and they arent even aware of the Thursday event and say that as general public there is no chance id be able to get access, they suggest it will be a press and Toyota personnel only. I think as ill be in the area, ill turn up anyway and see if the good old 300f2.8IS gets me in. :)

Does this mean Trulli will be wearing a silly costume if he makes it on to the podium a la Coulthard at Monaco '06?

4th year of going to a GP in a row, and looking forward to it more than ever!
