2008 Japanese GP - Race 16/18

Without looking (unless you've already seen it on the news) guess what make of F1 car model was in the background of the BBC interview with Max Mosley today.....

That was the first thing I noticed when I watched the interview!

F1 do a lot of green things - they plant hundred of trees to offset the CO2 put out by the cars etc.

Can't find the info on it just now, but should be on F1.com somewhere.

Yeah, IIRC F1 is "Carbon Neutral". What a complete load of cobblers this green malarkey is :p

Your not a very good Honda fan are you. :)

When they launched the whole green car thingy last season, they highlighted a little known fact about F1, being that at that stage in time F1 had been completely carbon neutral for over 13 years, which would make it currently about 15 years carbon neutral.

They fund tree planting projects that lock up enough carbon dioxide to cover all the emissions from races and testing, from all the transport of the cars around the globe, all the transport of crew accross the world by boat and plane, and also (surprisingly) it also covers all the carbon emissions generated by all fans attending the events.

Basically, any hippy jumping all over F1 as being polluting and bad can shut the hell up! lol.

Honda trying out Ferrari style pitstop system :O

It does seem a little unreliable, however, it is my belief that it is the fastest method of carrying out a pit-stop. This is why Ferrari introduced and persevered with it. So, its of no suprise that another team wants to try it out.

Obviously, in tests, Honda also saw some time savings.

The main problem is that the 'green-light-button-man' needs to be calm under pressure and mustnt give the green signal before the pit-stop is done.

Force India in talks with McLaren

Pitpass said:
Force India are reportedly in talks with McLaren-Mercedes about the Championship leaders providing them with engines and tech support for next season.

According to Autosport, talks having been going on between the two parties with regards to an engine supply for next year's Championship.

Together with the Mercedes engines, though, Force India would also receive technical support from McLaren. In return the backmarker outfit would run British driver Paul di Resta, a protégé of the McLaren team.

"McLaren and Mercedes-Benz are convinced that the independent teams are of vital importance for F1 - in fact they are the bedrock on which grand prix racing has been built," said the spokesman.

"Therefore, should we be in a position to cooperate with an independent team and should such a cooperation make economic sense, we would be prepared to do so.

"Nothing has been decided yet, but we are engaged in various discussions and will inform the media of their outcome as soon as we are able to do so.

"We are also in discussions with, and seeking the guidance of, FIA President Max Mosley in connection with the matter."
Surely Gary Paffet would be first in line if they're looking to promote someone from a DTM background? He's even had two years testing in the McLaren.
