2008 Japanese GP - Race 16/18

Lewis is aggressive to today's standards, purely because other drivers have succumbed to the procession race F1 has become thanks to safety regs and the Schumacher bandwagon.

Lewis is lucky. As a young boy he asked Ron Dennis if could have a job as back then he believed he had what it takes. The potential was seen and Lewis has debuted into a top team and has upset a few teams and drivers along the way. The desired effect of a driver who has been manufactured from a young age? Definitely. He's got skills and he has worked hard for them, you can't take that away.

I agree, Kubica has had a good season, but he was better last year. The problem we have here is drivers are tied to the machinery they drive and from there they cannot develop if they are not competitive to go wheel to wheel with the "better" drivers.

Raw unadulterated racing is about the Saturday and Sunday. The one lap wonder and the 70 lap endurance. Strategy and mathematics doesn't excite me, despite its huge involvement of how a race pans out. To me it's all about the wheel to wheel racing, mind, reactions and balls. We can't have it every lap of every race as it's never been like that but today we aren't seeing the true potential of a lot of drivers on the field today.

Today, driving the right car is more important than racing itself, The sports almost getting like football and HATE football with a passion. Too much off pitch nonsense we would all do without. Lewis was given an opportunity and he stepped up and he, and Massa, fully deserve to win this years WDC and I will not be disappointed whoever wins. I'm just sad that we don't have 4/5 more drivers fighting for the same cause.

Will there be one, seeing as Brundle is doing hosting duties? Surprised they haven't got in a substitute presenter, like they did last time Rider was off.

Alarm set for 5.20 AM , doubt they will be a grid walk only brundle can pull that one of. the last one was a classic where he said to bernie " you have stitched me up with a PM before"

Come on, someone's got to join me at 4:30? It's what coffee was designed for.

Tell you what, when the rest of us make it out of our pits, you can just tell us what we missed. I hereby declare YOU the official pre race information gatherer! :D
Your forum needs you, dont let us down now!

Bacon sarnie here please......

Oh crap, is this the bit where you lot go, "You're the bird you make the tea and brekkie!"
:p

I'll keep an eye on the news, but if I'm doing that I can't be going out of the room to fetch tea and cakes. Plus the kitchen has a cold floor and you can bet I won't be able to find my socks at that time of the morning.

7 times world champ? do you really need an answer? what has he got to do with anything? Michael showed he can race in any car not just the best. Would Lewis be beating Kubica at BMW? I don't think so.

Kubica is very good. In fact, I would place him only behind Alonso and Hamilton.

Similar things that are being said about Hamilton were said about MS. In fact, even today, they say those things. But IMO, MS is the best overall F1 driver, ever. Unfortunately, it took 7 WDCs for many to believe this. I believed this after his 2nd WDC, where he absolutely hammered Williams.

Its easy to pick a winner after the race has been ran (or MS has won 7 titles), but its tricky predicting the winner before its been ran. I predict Hamilton will come close to supassing MS's achievements (providing he stays healthy and focused on F1 - and I'm dubious due to him hanging out with an older pop star, hanging onto his coat-tails), mainly because he has been coached/trained/groomed, right from the start to drive in a good team and compete at the sharp end.

I see the usual crybabies cant accept not everyone thinks Lewis is the best, shame really but they probably started watching F1 8 months ago.

Well, based on statistics and on the 2 seasons that he has been in F1, its difficult to argue against Hamilton. Various drivers have come into F1 and had the best car and none have had such immediate impact as Hamilton. Villeneuve was good when he arrived in F1, however JV had already raced and been crowned champion in USA's F1 equivalent (Indycar). Hamilton has come as a total newbie and nailed it. Most drivers are compared to their team mates - Heikki is regarded highly by many and Hamilton is totally blowing him a way. On the track, he doesnt even acknowledge Heikki as being any competiton for him. I dont quite know what else Hamilton can do to prove that he is one of the best.

Hell, in 2007, he matched Alonso, who many regard as the best F1 driver (me included), who beat MS to the title in 2005/6. Not many rookies can claim this feat. Look how Piquet is fairing against Alonso this year...it shows just how good Alonso is.
