2009 Ashes Series - England vs. Australia **Spoilers**

What a result! Brilliant play from the tail end. I'd like to see KP dropped for the next test, but that won't happen.

Well they made it. Well done to the tail enders.

It is a shame that the English, in our sporting philosophy, are estatic with a draw. And thats why we'll never be true winners.
This is test cricket, not Twenty Twenty. A draw, especially in the circumstances, is a brilliant result. It's a cleverly played out game of politics.

The aussies were pretty ecstatic when they did the same at Old Trafford four years ago so you're talking tripe.

If you're happy with low expectations then thats fine for you. I'd rather we had won the test. A draw reduces our chances of winning the ashes.

It seems to be the way this country is now. We hear often that schools are moving away from wanting kids to be overly competitive, how much money is being pumped into sports in this country?

I do hope we can pull this series off but playing like that I seriously doubt it.

Exactly. Speaking as an Australian, I can't believe that your team is actually celebrating. What is there to celebrate? Several days of mediocre cricket from a Test team hopelessly outclassed by the visitors? Is that the best England has to offer these days?

A draw gets you no closer to winning. You could draw all five games and we'd still retain the Ashes. This game is supposed to be about winning, not stonewalling for 40 minutes in the desperate hope of rain. Yet the Beeb is hailing the result as some sort of achievement. Bizarre.

What? hope of winning the match was lost days ago.

If we hadn't had taken the action we had we would have lost and been 1-0 down instead of even where we are now.

You're talking bobbins.

Face facts, they're better than we are so a draw increases our chances of winning the rubber.

If we can win one test and draw the rest it's job done.

No I never expected us to pull a win out of this. What I'm saying is we're not good enough and thats down to the attitude towards sport in this country and in our schools. I admire the Australian attitude and I wish we hadn't sent the convicts over there who had it. We should have sent the obese chavs ;)

Winning from the start maybe but when it comes to a point where only one team is going to win then you change tactics to avoid defeat.

The Australians should be more concerned about the fact that they weren't good enough to take twenty wickets in the game.

Lucky lucky lucky England...they got a draw and if they think they did well then they are sadly mistaken...extremely lucky escape for England...looks like last nights rain saved their backsides.

In all honesty England should have won this match on paper..they had a much better bowling attack than the Aussies.

Unlucky for the Aussies they should have beaten England in all honesty but am impressed with their batting and bowling performance...i thought they would ahve struggled without Lee but seems like they did pretty well without out him.

Oh well i reckon the second test will be pretty interesting...still have my money on the Aussies to retain the Ashes though....should have won it today really.

As for KP, he almost started a fight during the warm up today with the Aussies...he swatted a ball towards the Aussie bowlers and there was a bit of a confrontation but was quelled by Stuart Clarke lol...unlukcy for KP as he was bowled out for 8 runs:p.
