2009 Ashes Series - England vs. Australia **Spoilers**

Can we keep to the cricket please folks :) Feel free to bash Australia/England but people are free to support whoever they choose.

Exactly and thank you for stating that im free to support anyone i like.

DD WTF is the matter with you??...your like a dog with a bone:p...seriously stop making yourself look like a tool...and do me a favour stop putting words into my mouth:rolleyes:...show me where i have stated i HATE England...dont think i ever have stated i hated England:confused:...i just dont support them thats all:)...unless they are playing SA or India;):p

Well yes but it is a bit odd that someone born in England would hate the England cricket team and want Australia to win the Ashes isn't it :)

At times I might support the other team to England in the football so it can all end.;) Please God not another season. Thank the lord for the Ashes as respite.

Enjoy your victory...it took you 70 yrs to do it haha.

You say that as if we play you in the Ashes at Lords EVERY year. How many matches is that? Not that many, when you come to think of it, it's just something you're trying to use to make you sound like a pompous oaf :D

Hang on, you are the person that wasnt happy with people like Monty playing for England, I distinctly remember your thread last season, so if you arent happy with someone born in England playing for the land, who are you to criticise?

Yes I cant find it now. But theres a slight reference to the topic in this thread. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17740876

Rich_L, I appreciate that, but isnt it really the same thing? you cant have it both ways:p

Personally It would be nice if everyone who was born here did support the home team, but Ive been cricket matches in yorkshire, with asians, and the abuse dished out by the 'natives' was disgraceful, so im not surprised people dont support England.

Oh yes, absolutely, you won't find me arguing against dirtydog being somewhat inconsistent, normally depends whether he's being 'ironic and non-serious' or not :p

But yes, apparently even though you aren't English by his definition you are supposed to support the English cricket team anyway lest you attract his wrath :p

Anyway enough about that- back to the cricket :D Apparently if Pietersen is unfit they would bring in..*drum roll*..Ian Bell. Hardly a straight swap *cries*

O dear o dear. If I hear mention of Ian Bell in the team I will cry I think. He is supposedly the most technical accurate batsman in England but he never performs under pressure. All his big scores are against out of form teams. Has he even played himself back into the team? Bopara at 3 and him at 4 would be disaster. I would imagine he would take 3 and Bop 4 though.

I'm not sure when or why Wales got lumped in with England, nor why we played a test in Cardiff. England and Wales are different countries and associating Wales with English cricket strikes me as bizarre and ridiculous.

I think you should take a closer look at who runs 'English' cricket ;)

Here's a hint, it's the England and Wales Cricket Board... :p

As for Cardiff, the Welsh Assembly threw a bunch of money the ECB's way to land the 1st test. Or apparently there is some other reason to do with cricket, but I find that pretty doubtful :p

Yes I am well aware of that, but it doesn't mean it makes any sense to me.

I know it's all about the money and little to do with cricket.

KP, despite his crap form, still is averaging around 50? we need players of his calibre in and around the team.I'd have Bell in place of Bopara, who has looked a bit lost imo.

Well if you knew the answers, why did you say you weren't sure, sheesh :p

Bell has been in decent form, as usual, but he just seems unable to step up. That said, perhaps he'd be the right pick against the depleted Aussie side that seems to be lacking the aura of invincibility which he seems to crumble against :p
