2009 Ashes Series - England vs. Australia **Spoilers**

Excellent series :)

I missed my 3-1 England bet by a country mile (well, closer than 2-1 on paper) - but no matter, the England bowlers made this Ashes a true special. Broad deserves credit for his demolition derby on Friday, but my favourite was Swann.

Admittedly, the statistics say different and Australia should have won - Ponting was a strong captain and Siddle is the new Warne, so we have much to look forward to in future Ashes' tests.

But anyway, I hope Freddie and co. are getting truly rat-arsed in a club somewhere :D

Would have been nice to watch it on TV yeah, I think most people not seeing it on TV probably means it hasn't quite captured the nation's imagination as much as it did in 2005, which is a shame. I heard about Freddie's run out of Ponting for example, but I have yet to see it! :(

Its been on the highlights on CH5 yesterday and on the news on GMTV this morning. Fantastic throw.

The Ashes

So England win a bi-annual game of cricket that is only ever played between two teams and the fervour in the news is somewhat extreme. Come the annual award of gongs, there is every indication that the England team will be in line for MBEs.

Am I the only person that finds this somewhat sickening? A gong for winning a game of cricket (which, going by the law of averages, should happen at least a few times every decade) is ridiculous. There are people the length and breadth of Britain changing lives for the better, saving lives and generally making a difference that will not even be considered for such a prestigious award but winning a stupid game gets you first in line. Flawed, deeply flawed. :(

Should Harmison be picked for South Africa? He said when interviewed that he would do if selected, but I think there is no way he should go, with his homesickness issues.
