2010 OcUK Motors Review/Recap thread.

And you obviously derive less pleasure from them than I get from my old cheap ****ter :).

I'd put money in me being able to have more fun in one of them than you'll ever have in your barge :)

I think the sole cause of all the controversy and indecisiveness is that not even you know what you want.

Oh, I know of several things I want, my problem is that I cannot/could not decide which. If you bothered reading any of my posts rather than just trying to pick holes in them, you'd already know this.

It isn't a particularly sporty feeling car to sit in, it doesn't do the job as good as the two Honda alternatives, its missing an LSD and will depreciate faster.

Funny.

As last time I heard you hadn't even driven an EK9 yet

How sporty did the EK9 feel from the passenger seat?

Mike mate, I honestly think you've got me and my motives wrong.

I don't pick holes. I don't poke and poke in the hope for a bit of controversy. I just call these things how I see them it how I see it and give my opinions where I think they are valid. I do think my opinions are valid in your threads because A) I've got an particular interest in this sort of end of the market (£5000 and below "interesting" cars) and 2. Because I myself am a long sufferer of chronic indecisiveness.

You really need to stop thinking that the forum/world is out to get you. When you do these forums become a lot more enjoyable and you get some great advice to boot :).

So?

How sporty did the EK9 feel from the passenger seat?

Quite. It felt quite raw and sporty without being uncomfortable. The Recaros help with the feel, too. Also, the driving position felt much better to that of the 182, too.

Joshy, then stop trying to change my mind, or calling me up on having different tastes to you.

This is almost like a reality TV show where the clear favourite is begging for more votes.

You've won by a clear margin Mike, no need to carry on!

Motoring highlight of the year.

Discovering my Chrysler Neon had been written off.

Motoring fail of the year.

Discovering it still worked and was drivable.

It isn't a particularly sporty feeling car to sit in,

Neither does the Honda Civic really, does it? Lets face it, it's a Honda Civic not a Lotus Elise.

it doesn't do the job as good as the two Honda alternatives,

You've not driven them all..

will depreciate faster.

A 2001 Clio 172 for example is worth nothing. 1500 quid? Perhaps £2k? How can it depreciate from there - its worthless!

Mike needs to bear in mind that an EK9 is hardly going to be a spring chicken and I doubt there's many a EK9 out there that wouldn't benefit from a suspension refresh to get the best enjoyment from it. Without that its just another 12 year old tired hatchback. -ad- has the right idea, going the whole hog to restore his dc2 to its former glory.

to be fair when i looked at them you needed about 2500 for one that was decent, but i agree with the point. Theres a stupendous about of scene tax on import type r's, its almost at ford RS levels

No, but its been likened to one several times before in terms of driver enjoyment, feedback, rawness and sheer fun.

You suggested a 182, not a 172.

That likeness was made in a magazine test.

So now you're saying that I shouldn't buy the car I want, but instead buy a £1500 172 that I do not want?

Also, a £1500 172 loses its advantage of it being 'far newer' than an Integra, being about the same age as most UK Integras.

This is getting ridiculous.

No, but I can afford a good Integra, which is what has been said all along - the Civic was only ever a consideration if my "cheeky" offer was accepted, as it is a suitable alternative to the Integra being extremely similar.

Again, information that was available in the previous thread.

Thanks.

You obviously cant really afford a good Civic, so I'm suggesting alternatives that suit your budget.

May I make another suggestion that may be of more help to everyone*... Just forget it and move on.

*Not that you're not trying to be helpful Fox, but as we all know talking sense to Mike is as productive as banging one's head against a brick wall.

Mike, I seem to remember you spending a fair bit of the other thread discrediting the DC2 when we asked why you chose the EK9 over one. Something about it being a generation older chassis or some such?

What changed?

Yes, its the perfect car along with the Integra, which part of them being extremely similar (almost to the point of being able to describe them as almost identical where it matters!), did you fail to read a million times in the previous thread and in the post you just quoted. This selective reading is bridging on troll status.

May have been Evo, but I cannot find the article, so cannot say for sure.
