No, somewhat predictably he didnt actually buy anything.

There was much shock at this. Oh wait actually we knew all along 'The time' had not actually come.

Vitally he did make an offer.

Sure, it might have been so low the owner did not seriously consider it for any longer than 5 minutes, but progress is progress :D.

Not much different to the new car you've been talking about since before time began.

A mere £500 under what it was advertised for, for a car that simply was not selling.

I'm in no rush for a new car, I'm not about to rush out and buy the first heap I find because I'm desperate. The thinking man is a patient man.

I don't think i've ever seen him post "I'm going to go out and buy THIS car tomorrow", more so "in the future, i wouldn't mind XXX"

Put your handbag away!

Completely different, infact. I've not actually said the time has arrived for me to purchase a new car. Because that time has not yet arrived.

Is it still for sale?

Actually, I recall you saying that you were waiting for the 335i M-Sport to hit the £20k mark. There you go.

Regardless, the fact that you are using the fact that I've not found a car less than two months after starting to look, as an insult, when you've been looking for something suitable to replace the 530 since I've been posting actively in Motors, just seems a little hypocritical - which was my point.

Nope, the seller (who was desperate to sell, by his own admission) sold it a week or two later.

I also fail to see the issue with me making an offer on a car that was under the asking price? I mean, I'd be surprised if anyone here has bought a car privately without making an offer on the asking price first.

I recall him saying quite recently that he wasn't going to actively start looking until some time next year? That and he still hadn't made his mind up 100% about the 330i Vs 335i matter

Making the offer wasn't really the funny thing. It was the fact that you made an offer on a car the otherside of the country that you hadn't (and still haven't?) driven 150% sure in the reasoning that it was the perfect car for you (when on paper it really, really isn't), despite one not appearing on the shortlist you made just a few days earlier.

Then for a few pages you did appear to make it seem like you had pretty much secured the car in question, not merely made an offer that the owner wasn't seriously considering. And then the other hilarity ensued. Come on Mike, it was a good thread  .

And before ANYONE goes into full blown war mode. Please remember that I made this thread for a bit of light hearted banter about the year, not to open up old wounds. Try and keep it light hearted :).

If you can be bothered to go and find the posts I've made over the last x months you'll find I've tentatively marked next summer for replacement of car. Pretty much everyone on here is familar with that idea.

Many thanks for the link to the completely unsuitable car which is cheap because of its rubbish spec, mind. Forgive me for not rushing out and getting it.

The point is I've not made a song and dance about being ready go and buy a cheapo car right now. You have, or rather, had.

It really isn't the same thing *at all*.

The other difference is that you are a known fantasist, so it makes it all the more amusing when you say yet more things which never materialise :)

Can't have been that badly priced.

It was sold a matter of days later to someone who put in a bid a day after you wasn't it? I'm pretty sure it wasn't anywhere near two weeks.

Edit - the buyer made his offer 4 days later and it was accepted just over a week after that, so it was around 2 weeks until it was confirmed as sold, my bad.

Doesn't twoblacklines still post on here? It also says in his sig he has a 335i...

He asked the mods to remove his access to the Motors section IIRC.

I remember the start of what you're all refering to as 'Oil Gate' I posted asking Princey if he'd used the stuff in his VXR :p

Bit of a shame realy.. I met him and went for a ride in his car at the RR Meet this year, he's a nice lad!

I thought the start of oilgate wasn't someone on here asking but the fact he randomly got suspended from work and it turned out they'd found posts online and suspected he was using 'their' oil for his personal car?

Why isn't it the perfect car for me? You seem to have overlooked (as everyone was at the time, as it obviously favours this 'argument') the fact that it is an almost identical car in terms of how it drives and what it offers.

I think you're confusing fantasist with indecisive. Why on earth would anyone be fantasising about replacing a < 2 year old Focus ST with a 12 year old Civic? If I was indeed a fantasist, I'd be posting up asking whether I should buy a CSL or E92 M3, for example.

It had been for sale for a fair while before I made an offer.

He created a thread on here Kenai, basically saying he'd been suspended from work, and wanted to know his rights IIRC, before the meeting with his bosses took place.

OcUK being OcUK.. Members dug a little deeper and asked why he'd been suspended, cue him saying he'd bought oil for the 'Company Smart for Two' as soon as I read it alarm bells rang :p

I assume people found his forum posts elsewhere after the 'Work Suspension' thread.

Really!?

That's something that would really wind me up.
