2012

It was an enjoyable film, nothing worth an oscar but worth a view for sure. Its the best in its genre anyways for a while.

For £3.50 on loughboughs cheap night you can't moan.

About as much as it's worth, considering it's taking up a whole 2hrs 40 minutes of your life in exchange:)

Very much a here today gone tomorrow film, as much as it makes you go woooo, in the back of your mind if you ain't saying "yeah riiiiight" everytime it kicks off around the main group escaping the floor falling from under them.

Too far fetched even for a film of the ilk. I do like the genre though, flicks like the day after tomorrow, armagedon ect... both 8/9 from 10 scorers.

This, a 6 score, strech 7 for the effects.... it's not the best disaster film you've ever seen, nor will it be the last thats ever made, which might and probally will better it.

Umm maybe spaceships wouldn't have been so bad:)

Just got back from seeing this, over the top disaster movie with lots to pick holes in.

Did I enjoy it? Yes.
Will I watch it again? Probably.
Will I buy it? Only if it's cheap.

As for the previous comments about the water being cold, lol, if you're going to be that picky then you're going to be a long time writing a list :D

You pretty much summed up exactly how I felt about the film. I switched off and enjoyed it, sure on the ride home I thought wait a minute.

I saw it last night and I agree with most of the views on here.

CLASSIC same old disaster movie with a lot of stuff that is a little stupid to believe.

I'll buy it in a very cheap play.com sale.

I thought it was ok. I expected a popcorn/cinema disaster movie and thats what i got. It did feel like The Day After Tommorow just with different special effects.

There were some really cheesy moments, especially when characters died.

Some gaping plot holes imo.

SPOILERS

The two escape sequences from LA and Yellowstone. You have to have some suspension of disbelief to think that they could have avoided all of those falling debris and actually managed to drive with the road cracking/falling away from them in LA.

The Arks, unless i missed something it was a bit stupid that they couldn't start the engines until the main hatch was closed. WTF? Seems like a pretty stupid design flaw tbh, but hey this is a Roland Emmerich film and Windows beat conquering alien invaders in Independence day so meh.

As has been said, the Water Scenes, how long were they in the freezing cold water really. I'm no expert but i'd think they would have had the onset of hypothermia and started to go very numb after a short while.

Like i said i was expecting a cheesy disaster movie with special effects and thats what i got. I thought it was better than The Day After Tommorow which just bores the hell out of me, but nowhere near as entertaining as Independence Day, which imo is the best of RE's disaster movies.

Right didnt make it on monday, hopefully going tonight with a few mates ,but there all skint.

Got some orange wedensday codes :D

personally i enjoyed it, yeah there were stupid things that you can pick holes in and made me sit there thinking 'that would never work / they would never have survived that!' and i also i agree the 'escaped with 1 sec to spare' was carried to much but the action was good and apart from a couple of dodgy CGI scenes the effects were great.

Ths is the kind of film that will always look better at the cinema than on TV so i totally think it's worth the £4-5 quid.

i can't say i noticed the film was as long as it was, it felt shorted than tranformers 2 which seemed far to long still enjoyed).

I never got into these types of films expecting an oscar performance and it always irritates me when ppl bark on about the 'plot', it's a disaster / action film of which there are few with a decent plot.

Did enjoy Woody though, didn't know he was in it!

Went to watch it last night. Was OK but have no real wish to watch it again.

Same issues as those mentioned above. Independence Day is better and actually more plausable!

Saw this today, was hilarious and I always enjoy seeing the world destroyed, effects were ok though but was slightly too long.

Awesome movie, effects where great and on the whole was enjoyable and some classic funny scenes.

Allthough, Dont drink an odean large drink during the start and expect to last till the end when the movie has so many crashing water scenes lol

In your opion what is a good film? as this is hardly shockingly poor is it?

My opion, 8/10, while not film of the year very entertaining still.

 8/10...honestly this would barely rate a 1...and that 1 would be for the effects. What made this film shockingly poor in my opinion was a number of things: Spoilers below

1: Just how much they felt like insulting the viewers intellegence.
2: The repeated scenes of unrealistically collapsing ground - drive car or camper successfully ramping uneven ground.
3: The repeated scenes of unrealistically collapsing ground - take someone with 2-3 lessons in flying a plane, get them to fly multiple planes and not once let him actually think instead of flying above all of these collapsing buildings have him fly low constantly & go between the falling buildings avoiding all wreckage
4: The endless cliches, worst of them being something predicted about 2 mins into the film - Sistine Chapel - why oh why oh why must the crack always go between the fingers of the painting on the ceiling...again see point 1.
5: The bloody dog being the only one who thought to (having heard a whistle over the sound of an angry mob & engines of an ark) cross from the harbour to the ark across the one thing connecting the two & get to safety...again point 1.
6: The woeful acting
7: The utter predictability of the film
8: It being pointlessly long with the additional 'problem with the ark'.

And so on.

What makes a film good for me? Being immersive, challenging intellegence rather than draining it, good plot characters & acting. I like a massive range of films of which this just isn't close to being in its league...one of the few films I have considered leaving the cinema part way through.

Good to watch for the effects, but i knew the film was gonna be a problem when about 7 of us literally turned to eachother and were like "was that just the intro?", far too long. Some funny moments in there, though, lol.

Anybody who went to see this expecting more than a CGI disaster fest with plot holes ahoy needs their head examining to be honest, can't believe it's being slated for being what it was expected to be.

Purely a showcase of visual excellence. The movie didn't take itself serious at all which is tragic. Cliches, too many stupidly dim witted funny moments, over the top acting and completely exaggerated events.

Like a lot of these movies, it should've be a dark, highly involving drama, focusing on lives lost and the characters.

Utter balls with awesome effects.
