2013 Powerlifting Totals

grudas --------- 60 :( / 110+ / 147.5+ ------------ [75] ------- 317.5

ill update mine..

haven't had much progress due to being ill but ill build it back up! lost some weight too over 2 weeks of illness - fun.

grudas --------- 65 / 130+ / 150+ ------------ [78(when i did the PB's now down to 74!)] ------- 345

dead will be hard to crack by the looks of it, and squat is catching up with my deadlift.. NOT happy!

bench as always is and will probably be a problem number wise. Goal is to get to 80kg by the end of the year!

Good work grudas, really good work. I'm pretty sure bench will go up itll be technique, even I've moved 65kg and that's with a knackered shoulder :p

thanks! :) yeah ill crack it! i knew it will be my "problem" area but ill manage it, i guess part of it is that i cracked my elbow last summer and my left arm in general was a bit weaker compared to right.

80kg does seem reasonable, i've got 5ish months to get there and if my progress keeps going the way it is i should be there by the end of the year! :)

need to eat more, get those kg's back! :o

May as well add this since my bench press hasn't been updated and I got a PB on the squat today :D

Old

stiv121 ----------- 105/ 150(B)/ 200(B) --------- [64] ----- 455

New

stiv121 ----------- 110/ 170(B)(W)/ 200(B) --------- [70.5] ----- 480

I used a set of wraps over my joggers for the squat thou

Done a 120 bench press which was very slow but spotter touched it a little a few inches before I locked out so I can't give myself it :( Next week! Also getting close to my dead lift PB with reps and aim to pull 200 again soon :D

500 total I'm coming for you!

Because when squatting that heavy I feel a lot more solid when using them, they also allow for a little extra weight or 1 more rep. I Don't use them until above 140 usually but last week I done 150 as a double so wanted to do a few extra sets to get used to the wraps 150x2 165x1 170x1.

I'm only 5'6" ;(

I've also not been using a belt for a while on the deadlift and want to pull a good clean 200 before I start to use it again.

The issue here is that you are using them as a crutch. Any lack of stability is a technical or positional issue that needs addressing.

Any extra weight you can shift is really not that useful for bodybuilding, as the majority of the extra work is being done by the wraps.

Height has absolutely nothing to do with it. There are guys shorter than you handling a lot more load without difficulty.

What concerns me is that you have probably been advised to use wraps by your coach or those you train with. For me, this casts further doubt over their expertise.

If this is purely your choice, just stop using them and address your limitations.

I've not been advised to use them totally personal but I haven't been using them as crutch more so as an aid to get used to having more weight on my back. As ive squatted more with wraps ive been able to squat more without them.

Knee sleeves could be an idea as i've got elbow sleeves and they have been great for keeping my joints warm in between sets but as i've shot up in weight i can hardly get them off and on :(

It sounds like you are using them like the ***** pad people use on the bar when squatting. They won't be giving you anything beneficial and as people have said they will be masking problems that are going to get you hurt.

While I don't have a problem with joint sleeves, if your joints are getting cold and stiff between sets something is wrong.

The best way to get used to more bar weight is to squat better and squat more.

I've seen this many times. I know exactly the kind of dysfunction you have.

Ditch the wraps, fix your technique.
