2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying/International Friendlies 14 November *** Spoilers ***

Am I the only one who wasn't 'that' impressed by that goal??? Why is everyone bumming it off. It was an open goal.

ok go to a footie pitch with mates, stand 25 yards out with your back to goal, throw ball in the air and try to overhead kick it into the "open goal"

easy isnt it ;)

For the people who bummed the Oscar goal and claimed "great technique", that wasn't much, completely open goal, facing it, ball bouncing in a pretty much perfect way to hit it first time. A professional footballer given an open goal, an easily controlled ball and only distance should hit the target almost every time.

For Zlatan, he was facing away from goal, he had no control of the ball, it wasn't an easy to hit ball and 99% of shooting practice is done with the ball below waist height facing the goal, 0.00001% of all practice he will have done in his life will have been shots similar to that, nailing it dead on, in a match situation under pressure is incredibly impressive.

AS said though, you could see it coming, that is whats impressive, for Oscar the ball fell to him, the chance was begging, this one he see's Hart coming out he gets ready incase Hart leaves a ball he can hit, he adjusts to where it goes, gets ready and bam. if he didn't predict and move away from Hart before hand he'd never have scored it. Most players would have run and challenged Hart and been no where near the ball when it came down. Every part of it is perfect.

Was a great goal but listening to the media etc some are calling it the greatest goal ever, i just can't agree with it, he struck it really well it was hard to do fair play to him but not the best imo.

I would say messi's goal against real madrid where he dribbled passed 6 players from the half way line is the best goal i have ever seen.

Just saw the goal on ssn.

One of those up there with the genius i'll associate with dennis bergkamp finest.

Pure finesse.

Where are all the Zlatan haters now? ;)

They all joined the fan club :d

All aboard the train!!!!

Can't wait to get into work. Told the guys yeaterday ibra was my fav player and he would destroy England :)

Two of them support England and they are born and bread in n.ireland.

Amazing goal for sure, but maybe more luck than good judgement. Could he realistically repeat it? Or would be misjudge and send it wide or high?

Same can be said for any shot. Heck most people have problems scoring from the pen spot.

He does have an amazing highlight reel of great goals. So scoring the above is in his arsenal

Zlatan is pure class, not Messi or Ronaldo class but just a notch below for sure. Probably the most athletic footballer around, even more so then Ronaldo, just a shame he lacks dribbling ability and some football intelligence otherwise he would be alongside the aforementioned two as potential player of the year material.

Like Crouch's* goal last year, the audacity to even attempt it is part of the magic. The thought of it wouldn't even enter most players' heads. For me, that's part of the genius.

* I can't believe I'm putting these together!

If Rooney gets goal of the season for a 6yrd shinner that was put on a plate for him Ibra should get goal of the century with that goal, the technique was simply brilliant.

You could argue that Joe Hart should have stayed on his line or cleared it better but who would have expected an overhead kick from there? 99% of strikers would have brought it down and by that time it would be nearly impossible to score as the defensive team would have got men back and covered the goal line.

3 months ago Sterling was playing the odd game in the Europa League and now he's a first team regular for Liverpool and has just won his first cap for England. Not bad for a 17 year old in his first season of football.

Looks like he is a real prospect for sure.

I just hope quotes attributed to him /his agent arent true already wanting 50k a week (or its "just" his agent wanting a pay day).

From reports he is "only" on 2k a week + apps bonuses, so obviously that needs to come up somewhat - but I just hope he isnt getting too big for his boots after not even 1/2 season as a regular player.

If reports are completely false of course, thats something else entirely.

.

Brilliant goal undoubtedly - but he also only "destroyed" England after 1/2 the 1st team had left the field, and Roy was blooding youngsters (and Osmon lol)

Hart's fubar makes the goal possible - but as above to even try that shot makes it amazing

Hart was shocking, Gerrard was shocking, Baines was poor. Some of the youngsters did OK. Still not sure what Osman is doing there.

Ibra did well, but his better goal was the chest and volley. The other was hit-and-hope. He did well to get to it and get it on target but it's not the amazing goal people will make out. Just as with the Rooney shinner.

I really don't understand that argument, especially from someone that "gets" and plays football like yourself. Like any goal, there is an element of fortune but surely all that matters is that in that moment he decided to try something ridiculous and pulled it off. 99% of players wouldn't have even had the thought enter their heads.
