why shouldn't they celebrate?

they have just had their best ever finish in a world cup

they've also just beaten the number one team in the world and cemented their place as the best team in europe

What a ridiculous thing to say. Finishing third at the World Cup, getting a medal, beating the number one side in the world, highest position England Ladies have finished and the second highest finish by an English national side since 1966.

Great to see them doing this well. Thought Germany looked in control until Aluko came on and she really stretched the game, but we defended excellently and deserved the win.

Awesome.

Yes, you're right, nothing wrong with celebrating. I'm just being a miserable sod.

I think this whole 3rd place play-off game thing that we get these tournaments is pointless. Only time it makes any sense is at the Olympics, where there is something to play for.

in the world cup you get a bronze medal same as olympics
 
I think last night was the first time I've watched a full womens game, my word, the quality is extremely poor! I was thinking what standard of the mens game could it be compared too but I'm sure we play better stuff on Sunday's than the Women!

Anyway, well done to England coming 3rd. Great effort.
 
You didn't see Germany vs Ivory Coast then?

The standard is still some way off the men's game but it's still developing, England did a great job considering they were expected to get nowhere past the second round.

I can't disagree with that.
It will be a very long time before we see a woman playing in the Premier.

Yup, I actually found it immensely frustrating to watch for any length because of the laughable standard.
 
Main difference is the keepers, they are proper ****. Most shots high up in the goal end up in the net.
I hear people talking about the standard of play being worse than Sunday league but I reckon if you were to watch most Sunday league games on TV it would look pretty poor too from that perspective.
 
I've quite enjoyed the few games I've seen.

The standard is lower than we're used to seeing in the mens game, granted, but it's still a fair game for the true fan of football.
