England will have to put in a much better performance if they are gong to stand any chance against Japan. If they defend like that again, Japan will punish them.
 
Great win by England despite some really sloppy play. I couldn't help but question the manager's tactics of giving it away as soon as possible - but he proved me wrong :p As far as I could tell the midfield might well have just sat down for 90 minutes or put on a red shirt.

Looking forward to the USA vs Germany game. However I can't help but feel Japan will slay England, especially since they know how to keep the ball. Only way I can see England winning is through sheer physicality and luck.
 
Well done to the team.

Saw most of it before my lights went out. Definitely the occasion, pitch, and circumstance played it's part in how the game played out, as with any game.

Next round different game, see how it rolls... Though I must say, from watching the American's against the Chinese the other night, they look such a naturally flowing team, the guys in the mls should take note.

Look forward to watching the Us/Germany match, should be titanic.
 
Credit were credit is due, England women have done well in this tournament. Sure they didn't play particularly well, but they won. Being able to win whilst not playing well is something that England are usually very bad at, especially the men.

The men's team could learn something from the women. Sure, the men's game is more skilful and competitive, but how many times do England men sail through qualifying, then when it comes to the tournament, they are just **** and go home.

So what can the mens team learn from the women? How to have weak opposition. England Women are a decent team in world football and have struggled to get through to where they are. Well done to our girls but lets not get silly.

I feel bad as was really interested in watching this tournament.

I watched first two games and then forgot about it.

The time of the matches has not helped.

Am watching this for sure.

Do your best ladies, nobody can ask more.
