Liverpool's first pre-season game vs Tranmere is about to kick-off. Karius, Matip and Mane are all making their debuts, of sorts.

Really impressed with Mane in that first half, he looked very very sharp. Matip did ok, as did Karius although neither had much to do really

Markovic just missed a near open goal :o

Have to say, Markovic didnt look to have improved much at all from last he played for us. Moreno was also sub-par, even for a preseason friendly. Very impressed with Randall, also impressed with Alexander Arnold and Woodburn.

I've learnt not to take too much notice of senior players performances in pre-season. Agree on the 3 young lads though - not convinced Randall will ever make it with us but the latter 2 are very highly thought of.

I think a big problem for Randall is that he is mainly a right back and that puts him firmly behind Nathaniel Clyne. He is unlikely to be able to oust Clyne from the first team slot so he may need to adapt into another position.

I think Randall's problem is that he's just not good enough. He's alright defensively but lacks any physical attribute to really excel - he's not particularly quick, tall or strong - and he's bang average technically so isn't going to make the grade as an offensive full back either.

I see him similarly to how I see/saw Flanagan only probably not even as good as him - he might do ok at times but ultimately not good enough.

Do you want to put club fixtures in the first post Baz?

United's are:

22 Jul Borussia Dortmund N 13:00
25 Jul Manchester City N 12:30
30 Jul Galatasaray N 18:30

03 Aug Rooney Testimonial Everton H 20:00
