***2017/18 Pre-Season Thread***

He took ages to make a decision, a red for that would be a joke in a competitive game. In a friendly? The ref is either incompetent or looking for attention.

It's either a red or it isnt...there isnt a separate law for a friendly.

Valencia has kicked him and clearly had zero intention of going for the ball...it's a red.

He's just booted the back of the player with no attempt on the ball, not really given as a red much but lol @ 'power trip'

Pathetic play for a friendly too

Exactly this. I've seen them give yellows for them but he hasn't gone for the ball so technically it's a red.

Have you never watched friendlies before? Plenty of refs go easier in non competitive fixtures than they would in competitive ones.

Oh come on, it wasn't that bad. There would be dozens of reds in the pl each week if that's a red. He was never getting the ball but plenty of tackles in every game are never going to get the ball and they just kick the guy.

Ref overreacted.

As I said, if the ref decided that Valencia wasn't making a tackle then it becomes violent conduct. It's certainly something you don't see often but it's difficult to argue with in isolation - Valencia's made no attempt to win the ball, he's just kicked the opposition player. Had he gave him the slightest of slaps on the cheek nobody would question a red card - what Valencia did was surely more violent.

They at least attempt to get it. Being late to a challenge and just kicking the fella are two different things. It doesn't help that he's gone in from behind either.

It real doesn't matter as it's a friendly but it's a red.

To be fair though, they don't. You see player clean another out all the time when the ball is nowhere near their path. Its just not as blatant as Valencia was. Anyway, as you say its a friendly and its also Valencia.

Arsenal on track to rob Bayern in their game.

Edit: robbery complete
