Its not really, mostly all currencies were down against the dollar, now the pound has fallen about an extra .5% against a basket of other currencies as well. These tax cuts make everything worse for the UK I dont know why you defend it. But I also think discussing one days trading on FX markets is pointless as they often whipsaw.
We are only bringing our taxes more in-line with other countries. I’m not even sure why they were that high in the first place. One of the reasons the UK gets the lowest investment in the G7.

Bond yields increasing not good for mortgages

Don't worry you'll not pay stamp duty on that house you're looking to buy.

So that'll save you some money to pay for the higher mortgage rate... of course the house you want to buy will be £xx,000 more than what it was earlier in the year.

.....you are simply stealing from future taxpayers.
Get your pitchfork out and go after the theiving swines!

Or those earning in the higher tax bracket are also contributing huge amounts of tax anyway. What's stealing about that when it's in fact the complete opposite!

Indeed. The rich poor gap in the USA is ridiculous. Holiday time and working conditions are worse. I was shocked how little holiday you get over there.

Its not always jealousy.

We should be paying more tax. NHS is in a dire way. I fear it's eventual collapse.

I had a referral for an urgent procedure this week. Called to check wait time. 72 weeks.
I paid for private. Luckily I can. But most can't.
It’s not that much different if you look at the league table of rich poor divide.

I'm just wondering is Truss is going for some sort of record, see if the GBP can hit new 37 year lows on each day she is in office.

If they’re trying to stimulate the economy giving tax cuts to the rich, or better off than most let’s say, is not the way. As Besty has said above they’re living within their means. Giving them more money likely means they’ll invest or save, not spend.

I dont think people like that are vilified, its the actual rich that are. You, like us, dont need those cuts, why not help the lower income families that really need it.

Also 30-40k a year?

Damn. Saving that just from these changes.?

And saving it up? This is exactly why rich people do not need more in their pocket at cost of government debt.

I see no trickling down! :D

They are just desperate to make their 'there is no money left' note not as funny this time round. Or even funnier depending what scale you are on.

The sooner truss is out the better. As the economy starts to tank maybe the scum who voted for her might start to realise their mistake.

The amount of damage done in the next 2 years is going to be insane.

Really? So what were the big tax inreases which occurred in 2016 or perhaps that was something to with Brexit?

It'll take a miracle for this to work out OK

I knew 'stealing' would trigger people.

What Truss is doing is taking money from future taxation, to give very wealthy people a handout.

I don't post in this area of the forum, for obvious reasons but as an 'older head' in the forums I will say that people earning 150k and over have been unfairly vilified as being 'rich' for too long. It's the peeps earning over a million a year that have no worries about money.

Yes, these cuts seem enormous, its worth about 30k-40k per year to me and the missus but we will most likely just save the money, these taxes should not have been implemented in the first place, by previous conservatives governments.

This is now a proper conservative administration, implementing what we (Tory voters) expect from our party. And no, I won't be buying a 4090.

lol.

This a joke?

I don't see the problem? Why not borrow when you know you're never going to pay it back. It's a brilliant idea when you think about it.

The trick is getting in early.
