2022 mini-budget discussion

I'm so glad we had 6 years of austerity, that was really worthwhile...

The timing is perfect isn't it. The cost of debt hits 0, and all of a sudden it shoots back up. It's almost like the system is designed to keep everyone paying interest payments.

Reading the financial times, and the news this morning.....the economy is completely broken and I honestly can't see a way out now. The debt is doing nothing other than growing, and we have no means of paying it back. Literally no means. The financial sector? ha ha ha ha ha ha

Government policy seems to be the hope that someone, somehow, somewhere does something to fix it.

For why?

I imagine that exactly the same thing will happen this time. House prices will go up by way more than the stamp duty reduction and you will have the perpetual problem that housing has in the UK. If you wait, the house you are buying will probably have gone up by more than the money you save towards it.

You have two options. Buy now and benefit from the stamp duty holiday and suck up the increase in property prices or buy later and still pay the inflated prices but without the holiday. Your only hope is that the market has some sort of collapse but the government will be petrified of that and will pull every stupid trick out of the bag to avoid it. Stamp duty holiday being a prime example.

Its such a monumentally ******* stupid plan it actually boggles the mind. The housing market needs deflating, not inflating some more. If this economic turmoil lasts more than a few years there will catastrophic consequences for so many. Massive job losses, mortgages people can't afford. Services stripped to the bone due to low tax income and huge debt repayment.

People deserve to be lined up against a wall for the damage they are doing to the country.
As far as I’m aware, it’s a permanent change to stamp duty and not a holiday this time?

Of course that may all change when this shower of **** get kicked out!

If they're a year away then the saving in stamp duty will also be lost to increased interest rates.

I think we may have more important things to worry about, besides haven't you heard we left the EU so it's not really our concern any more. Gloating just makes you look like that creepy ex boyfriend who just can't move on. :p
What like Macron? lol

It's just yet more what-about-ism from our resident "look over there" expert.

And Giorgia Meloni has won the Italian elections. The EU must be in a spin.

Not really, as if you pay a modicum of attention to what's going on over there it's similar to everywhere else. All the other mainstream parties have been in and not got anywhere so it's a case of the electorate saying '**** it' give these guys a go they're the only ones who've not been in yet, based on the unicron promises thay have been making rather than any genuine swing towards far right policies. So you can damper down your wet dreams of it being the start of the rise of the Fourth Reich :p

Anyway, according to you wasn't the EU supposed to have collapsed already after they all saw what a success Brexit was (<LOL>) and how's Le Penn doing now she swept to power all those years ago?.....oh wait

The Italy thing has got you lot rattled..

Has it now? Really?

You know that for a fact do you?

You should use your services as a psychic... actually no wait, don't cus you couldn't be further from the truth.
I neither give a rats **** about Italy before, or after their election.

But it's very telling that it seems to occupy significant mind-space inside your little cranium.

Also, tell me, what does Italy have to do with what our current Kami-Kwasi Chancellor is doing to our economy?

No we are laughing at the old adage of 'be careful what you wish for' - I'm willing to give Truss at least a few months before making judgement and will always fall back on at least its not Corbyn lol..

Do not forget... this is YOUR party... This is the Tory party you craved, lusted and prayed for.

Truss is not some independent 3rd party who just stepped in to be PM... She is Tory party, she was chosen BY the Tory Party.

so just to re-iterate incase it got by you.

THIS IS THE TORY PARTY, TRUSS IS THE TORY PARTY, KAMI-KWASI IS THE TORY PARTY. ALL OF THIS, ALL OF WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW, IS COURTESY OF THE TORY PARTY.

Yet suddenly you're trying to blame everyone else for this? Oh the irony.
