2024 OLED bonanza take your pick from dozens of new monitors

Yeah but the 3 Pulsar monitors I've heard about are all ips displays as far as I know anyway, if OLED ones are announced that'll be huge news.

As far as I know Pulsar is an LCD tech, as its backlight strobing and OLEDs don't have a backlight. But Gsync support on Mediatek chips are likely independent from Pulsar

Decided to make a pretty drastic decision and bought the LG 32" dual mode 4k 240hz / 1080p 480hz this morning, managed to get it with a discount down to £930.98 so looking forward to that arriving.

I'm blaming each and everyone of you for saying how good 4k is.

Also looking forward to having the dual mode available as well, I'm sure there are parts of me still clinging onto thinking I can hang with a competitive scene as I get older and that the only thing holding me back is my lack of 480hz...

It feels so wrong that so many of us PC guys are only getting 4K monitors now as i remember for how many years PC Monitor resolutions were always well ahead of TV's & Consoles etc

Even my First CRT monitor back in about 1997 did something like 1600x1200 and i used to laugh when 720 HD TVs & HD consoles came out about 8 years later and everyone was raving how amazing 720p was

Genuinely had the same conversation with my Dad the other week from when we swapped from the CRT to a new flat screen for our home PC in around 00/01?

I remember it just being an overall worse screen to use despite being the latest and greatest at the time - although it was a lot lighter and more 'efficient' in terms of the space it took up and I'm sure my dad's back was hugely thankful for that part...

I bought my first 19" LCD for £450 around that time and it was totally crap :( it also would only do something like 1280x1024

I upgraded (More like down graded) from a 17" & 19" iiyama vision Master Pro Diamondtron CRT's to that 19" LCD

The crt to flatscreen transition still haunts me and was also when I realised new purchase bias can seriously affect peoples vision :D Outside of size and weight, it was a grey motion blur fest. I always remember first seeing my cousin playing Unreal tournament and thinking the blur was a new graphics effect :D most people I mentioned it to at the time said their screen doesn't blur and the grey blacks is not very noticeable, something that you have to specifically look for

Anyone use one for productivity? Any burn in?

Bit nervous about joining the oled ranks.

Make sure you purchase an OLED with pixel refresh/orbiting and shifting so every day you can run the software to help out the monitor from a days use.

Not had any issues with OLED even with thousands of hours put in (but I haven't stuck with a model for more than a year yet either)

And also make sure it comes with 3 years burn in warranty.

Looking at the gigabyte auroris 49 inch

Had my 34 inch Samsung ultrawide over 7 years now, so maybe time for a change :p

Looks like it has an AI based OLED care, so should be good to go with that monitor, just make sure you know the length of burn in warranty.

Oh I just realised I think it's based off OLED G9 model, may have text fringing or may not? please do research.

Yeah Samsung panel I think, same as the G9.

Not sure how likely any company is to honour the 3 year burn in warranty?

I'm guessing most will try to wriggle out of it :(

Good point, I don't know anyone that's had to actually go through with it, but I imagine it should be ok.

I'd definitely check out reviews and see if anyone had issues with text fringing for your own use case.

As these panels will vary in quality out of the factory.

I am tempted, reckon it's currently the best value 49 inch oled on the market at the current price.
