2025 road fund

I have only just twigged that road tax is going to double so that means come April I will have to fork out £500ish for my 2010 2.0ltr Ford Focus. I will do it this year but certainly not paying next year at double the price. As a aging pensioner it will be totally pointless to buy a newer car for the amount of miles we do -This last year was the lowest at 3K - So need to check up on bus service and local Taxies.
They took our heating allowance now they are having our cars.
We bought a diesel because Gov asked us to save the planet.
I thought life was swinging along to easily.

Where have you seen that?

If it's a 2010 2.0TDCI then surely it's not got CO2 emissions high enough to be paying that much?

I'd have thought the emissions would be around 140g/km which would be more like £200 ish

Edit - did a quick search, appears you have a Powershift version, so slightly higher emissions.

You probably pay £255 now, the new April 2025 rate for you would be £265.

I'm guessing you've seen a news article that has deliberately presented the doubling of first year rates for new cars as if it applies to everything.

Thanks for that.

Been stuck in GD for a while.

Yes my last tax was £255 - nice to know it's "only" going up a tenner.
I accidently read the Daily Mail
