2080 Ti Super ?

The question is, would you buy one knowing Ampere was probably not far behind ... ?
Not sure I would. I thought I was pushing it a bit back in July when I grabbed a Ti, but spending flagship money when you know there's a new flagship due in the same year, not sure I'd have jumped.
 
Potentially this would mean +15-20% performance vs reference 2080ti @ 4K. 704-768 GB/s.

Not too bad. At least until we hear the price. :(


I'd say 2080ti will be nudged down in price a little bit and this will take it's place at the top price.
 
Business is not about making money only but also about making essential products and services available for the benefit of the society as a whole, too.

RTX Titan has Samsung memory that has no problem if you clock it to 4000mhz. Even using the full TU102 chip the Titan is only about 7% faster than a 2080 Ti.
 
Given the pricing of a 2080ti and the limits of the technology and core count, what’s the bet this, if it does arrive, will be 400MHz on the core, maybe a couple of Gigs of extra ram and another few hundred Hertz on the memory? And an extra £200 for the privilege?
It's going to be £1700 minimum but probably nearer £2000+.
Too many people bought into the ludicrous 2080ti pricing for Nvidia to row back on pricing. They're
a very greedy company.

My 2080 Ti FE came with Samsung memory that easily clocks to 4000MHz so I'm not in any rush to sell it and put another few hundred on top for a SUPER which will give maybe a 7% performance gain followed by Ampere coming out 6 months later, At that point it's just wasting money for the sake of wasting money.

If it ever sees the light of day a Super version of the 2080 Ti is likely to replace the existing version at the same price point as it won't cost NVidia hardly any extra to build.

If anyone wants RTX Titan performance from a 2080 Ti it is quite easy to get -

Waterblock + custom bios job done.:)
 
Forget any quoted clock speeds from NVidia about the 2080 Ti and RTX Titan.

The important one is under identical conditions both cards boost and run at the same clockspeeds (allowing for the silicon lottery).

That's not quite correct, because in order to have 12gb it would require larger bus width, which costs quite a bit more. And the extra cost of redesigning the PCB in order to be able to use 16 Gbps memory is also there (hence they didn't use the full 16 Gbps for 80 Super). So while it may not be much of a problem for Nvidia, it's questionable if the aibs will tank their own margins just to sell the consumers a faster card (compared to just selling 80tis). I don't see how they won't increase the price vs 80ti.

The Titan and 2080 Ti use very similar PCBs both have space for 12 memory chips (one of them is not used on the 11gb Ti).

Both card use the TU102 chip which come with a 384 bit bus as default (some is disabled for the Ti).

The RTX Titan has no trouble running its Samsung memory (all 24gb of it) at 16 Gbps 24/7 if needed so very little PCB redesign needed there either.

So no it won't cost NVidia much to produce the card.

I do have a theory why NVidia don't run the memory at 16 Gbps on their Super edition cards - I think it has more to do with the quality of some of the memory chips than anything to do with having to redesign the PCB, they don't want to be giving away the Space Invaders game with any new cards.

I think the existing PCB can handle 16gbps.
