***21.9 Ultrawide Thread***

True, well we'll see what comes of this. I can't see the sense in them making a TN 21:9 at this size... never thought I'd see it tbh, but it would be cheap to make and they'd make a tidy profit selling them so you never know! As Warbie mentions though, I'd have thought we'd have heard of such a panel in existence which we haven't.

Yeah, I definitely think the lighting conditions here and the camera will be influencing things too much to judge panel type from the photos. So we'll just have to put this in the 'TBC' pile. :p

I'm currently looking for a curved ultrawide freesync monitor.
This Acer Predator seems to to be the best option. IPS, 1440P and has a wide freesync range. The max only goes to 75Hz but with my 390x I don't this will be a big problem.

Before I click order is there anything I need to know? I can't seem to find any other comparable monitor as an alternative. It doesn't look like any new ones are imminent being around 6 months+ away (please correct me if I'm wrong). Do this have any know problems like high chance of dead pixels or issues watching blu rays?

Lastly, is there a good guide or source of info for what to do to test, set up and use ultra-wide monitors after I get it?

Probably the LG 34UC98 fits your needs, and it's cheaper. Not sure about how wide is a 55-75 freesync working range, but I don't even know if it's anything different on the Predator.

Acer xr34 here, still pleased with it and no problem with the 30-75 freesync range, setting up is as simple as enable freesync job done

I wouldn't use any ultra wide IPS 34" for critical movie viewing - IPS glow kills it for me .

The Predator goes from 30 I believe. I thought the LG is more expensive?

Good to hear. No flickering or anything?

I have heard that, I probably won't be watching too many films, as anything really good I'd probably use the TV as it has surround sound! Mainly gaming and generic desktop use where it hopefully won't be too noticeable?

Thanks all. I'll do a bit more searching but the Acer seems to be a good choice so far. Seems the G syncs get all the attention.

So you wont play any games with night?

Nope, no flickering, and all that stuff works fine for me colours are very good with very good viewing angles as you'd expect from an IPS. I have one too but with a Fury X.

I used that settings and it seems a little bit dull. I just don't feel like the colours are as vibrant as expected. They look good on some of the presets like"graphics" but then the Google page looks miles too bright.

I actually think it may be too close to me due to the stand. Is there a wall mount kit for these?

Update: after messing about most of the morning I've come to the conclusion that I need to switch between a bright colourful setting for gaming and a duller setting for surfing and general use. Does anyone else do that?

I also really need a decent wall mount bracket that allows for a little bit of adjustment. The monitor stand has it sitting far too close.

I'm in the same situation, although I've not yet set up my X34 (as I'm waiting for an 1080 EVGA SC) so it's still in the box (tested it out though, to make sure it worked, no dead pixels etc).

I've gone for a LCD wall mount with tilt function on it, but won't fit it until the GPU turns up.

tbh, I need to change my desk, for a deeper one, as I really like the X34's stand!
