This is my first proper monitor purchase for a long time and was so hyped to get this , i myself am not happy with the quality but returning it at my cost seems highly unfair .

That definitely looks excessive bleed to me and that bezel is NOT right. You only have to return at your own cost if there's nothing wrong with it and you simply change your mind. That clearly isn't the case here. Whoever you spoke to should be sacked, horrendous service! As mentioned above, you ideally need to speak to someone more senior (or who atleast understands what the term 'customer service' means), but you are entitled to raise an RMA on this, have it collected and a new one sent out... at ZERO cost to you.

Is that the x34 or x34a?

Have you contacted Acer via twitter or anything like that?

I'm concerned as I've recently ordered this screen. And the reviews I've come across are extremely mixed. Are they any good alternatives?
His first point of contact is the reseller (OCUK), not Acer... Twiiter is not the place to do it that's for sure.

These monitors can be mixed yes, but if you get a bad one you are entitled to send it back. Clearly this one isn't up to standard.

Thanks for the input , i have just got back off the phone from ocuk and the returns manager has told me there is no fault with these monitors what soever and can only offer me a full refund after i have returned these as an unwanted item which is clearly wrong . Thats why i posted here to get some advice and im so glad i did .

The first customer support guy i spoke to blatently called me a liar and there is no fault with them and all of them instock are like this so they must be made like that are his words.
So in order to get my refund i have no choice to send them back at my cost which as i said before is highly unfair but i dont want to hang around to long before my 14 day time is up.Also the manager evern refused to speak to me about it today , its almost as if they just dont care .

Its all good and well selling all these montors/gpus etc etc and doing over the competition , but wheres our support afterwards.

Just beware when purchasing these, there should be a disclaimer in the description stating these bezels come loose , they have done it on the asus rog swift with a % dead pixel policy.

OK, this is just WRONG. You cannot be told that an ENTIRE PRODUCT LINE is not faulty and basically ignored when you tell them you have a fault! THIS IS ILLEGAL and quite shocking actually, OCUK are usually better than this.

If you continue to get this treatment you need to speak to Trading Standards.

I agree , i have ordered plenty of goodies from them in the past and no problems what so ever . I asked to go above the returns manager to be then told that anyone higher will not take a call , i have to put this into an email and send it over . I asked to immediately speak to a senior manager/director but apparently hes away in taiwan , so cant odds that really .

But cant really do anymore , im just banging my head against a wall with this .

Be interesting to hear if anyone else is experience this when they ring up about there x34a and be told the same thing .

Just post a message in the customer services section on the forum and also your not asking them whether it can be taken back, you telling them, theres a difference, just send them a web-note stating that under the 2014 'Consumer Contracts Regulations' act, quote,

"Your right to cancel an order starts the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from the day you receive it"

You wish to return your product for a full refund as it is not suitable for your needs.

Job done.

He's not returning it because it's not suitable for his needs though, he wants to return it because it's clearly faulty. Yet he is being told it's not, which is absurd given they haven't seen it. And to add to that absurdity, he is being told ALL monitors aren't faulty! When Gibbo is away does Basil Fawlty take over or something?!? He is being lied to, not allowed to exercise his legal rights and treated with contempt... totally unacceptable.

really do appreciate the backup , as you can see my post count is low , i dont tend to flood the forums with problems , but its nice to have as a backup.
Shame the people on the phones dont read this thread , might open there eyes abit

I was more coming from that angle if they refuse to swap it.

Yeah i think you must have got someone in a bad mood or something, i returned a faulty XR34 last week and they took it back the same day then sent me my money back the day after they received it. I was very impressed with how they handled it.

Did you email them the pictures you posted after you got a webnote going?

when you say took it back same day , did they collect it or make you return it at your cost .
Thats what they are forcing me to do and thats why i think its wrong as its faulty.

Well they can't force you to do that. Have you raised an RMA web note via the website?

They asked me if i would be in for a pickup from DPD but i was working so they emailed me a label so i could drop it off at a DPD pick up point and it was collected from there a few hours later. I was gonna just post it back to them like they asked you to but every site was quoting me around £50 and that was just for £500 insurance, for an x34 it probably would have been more as theyre worth nearly double that.

After coming home from work tonight I checked my bezel out and it's pretty much the same as yours, seems to be pretty common, if you feel the bezel at the points it's coming away from the screen it feels warmer than the rest of the bezel so I imagine it's warped the plastic a little, plus I really doubt that piece of plastic was molded with a curve, looks like it's flexed and fastened down which wouldn't help either.

OCUK have been very good with me re. returning my UM68. The 2nd I received was better than the first and is a keeper. They're arranging for the first to be picked up by DPD.

Well i think its only overwatch of the games ive tried that doesnt support it. Everything else has worked perfectly or after a simple ini edit. Heck the game i play the most which is grim dawn just works. That said been thinking of 4k myself. While my 290 wont be anywhere near enough im sure i could still game in 1080p and watch movies and do desktop work in 4k. If you ever scratch that 4k itch please report back with your experience.

well guys, I bought myself an xb321hk instead!

I've run extensive monitor tests on it, no dead pixels, no overly apparent issues.

Incredible detail in 4k and the gsync really makes it buttery smooth, even dropping to 40-50fps seems ace.

I'm seriously torn now. But thinking 4K is the way to go!

its possible for the warping , only mine i noticed as i took it out of the box and set it up , to be fair i was looking for the problem as they have had a lot of this so i was double checking , lucky i did . will update you all with what happens

Ah if the case that's probably a good thing then as it probably won't get any worse, like I said I don't think that plastic strip was moulded as a curve, and it looks it's fastened right in the centre, so flexing it has caused it to do that, personally I'm not too bothered about it.

Im crossing fingers and toes for you :) good luck

Cheers dude :) The second one turned out to be better. Not massively - there's still some issues in the bottom corners - but enough not to be noticeable during general use. Otherwise it's excellent and I haven't been as happy with a monitor since my old FW900, which costs an arm and a leg!
