What keyboard is that?

Will be buying an RX480, possibly 2 , whilst waiting for Vega, and cant decide on on which monitor to get

I play fallout, skyrim, heroes and generals, project cars, grid, and metro.

Would it be better to get one of the cheaper ones and pair it with 1 RX480, and then get a 34"1440 when vega is out? Is 34" too big for 2560x1440? Are there other monitors i should be looking towards for freesync?

Currently on a 24" 1080p monitor, and sit about 2 feet away

acer xr34, and if you need to drop a few settings like aa untill vega drops then so be it, to be fair my fury tri x does a pretty decent job on the xr34

Anybody have experience downscaling a 3440x1440 ultrawide down to 2560x1080 ish?

I understand that to get a properly scaled picture you need to force a custom desktop resolution due to the fact that 3440x1440 has a very slight difference in aspect ratio to 2560x1080.

Really eyeing up one of these bad boys but I want to hold out with my 290x a bit longer and I know I won't get acceptable fps on a lot of newer games without downscaling.

I had a mess about with it on a couple of games with a 290 and 2560x1080 worked and looked pretty good, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised how well a 290x copes with 3440x1440, just drop the aa down lowish and games still look and play good

Saw this on sunday so I went and ordered an Asus ROG Swift PG348Q 34" ultra-wide as i did not want to wait till mid 2017...

But i won't be happy if IPS 144hz 34" ultra-wide G-sync monitors do end up getting released this year

Why ? you're not going to notice 100hz>144hz. 60hz to 100hz yeah for sure, 100hz to 144hz ? Not on your nelly. :D

Well Nvidia seem to recommend a resolution of 2048x1080 when downscaling.

Yeah I have read that AMD should support the same resolution, just not something I have had the chance to test and have read a lot of mixed opinions on the quality of downscaling on these ultrawides.

Yeah, they are tough cards for sure, I think it will serve me well in most games, but I know a few will be too much for the card to push Freesync range fps, so downscaling the resolution is sort of a last resort.

3440x1440 is a tough resolution to run. My poor 980GTX is straining to run even AC:BF today and I threw a healthy OC on it as well. Had to turn down a few sliders too. Not even attempting Witcher 3 again until I've upgraded. Can always turn the resolution down but where's the fun in that.

Love the built in FPS counter..:)..Anyone else always leave it on ?

But would really like to see company's make gaming monitors with a little FPS counter built into the bezel..

Interesting.... My first chance to game on the GTX 980 (after buying it a month or so back) and I'm fairly happy with the results.

BF4 ultra @1440p : 45-50 fps at that resolution everything at stock.

What do you guys get ?

is 3440x1440 or 4k more workload intensive?
