Sorry to make another thread but the other is very large and many questions havent been looked at...

Currently running the S model of the 226BW.

Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB

Using the DVI cable.

Windows Vista Ultimate

Monitors native resolution according to the OCUK page is 1680x1050.

Mine only has:

1280x1024

and then the enxt option is

1920x1080

And thats my last 2 highest resolution settings. I cant see any other resolutions in the gaphics card options either to oerride the windows ones.

Running it in 1280x960 at the moment as that fits the best from the resolutions iv got available but its hurting my eyes a lot so im guessing this isnt a good resolution to the run the monitor at.

Any ideas how to fix this? I want to run the native res...

I picked mine up from OC this week at the same time as my mate. He is also having the same problem as you but with an older NVIDIA card and windows XP. In the big 226BW thread I'm sure someone has posted with the same issue so it may be worth having a look through...

install the latest GFX card drivers and the driver for the screen, and then if it's still not listed, use something like Powerstrip to create a custom 1680 x 1050 res :)

Similar problems

I can get the resolutions to show up in the display settings but sadly, only because the Samsung drivers force them in there, not because the display says it can do them. When 1680 x 1050 is selected, the screen pans around with the mouse.

My full problem is posted here, same forum, different thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=8914756#post8914756

Good luck matey, looks like we need replacements.

:S mines seems to be working perfect from the box no probs that i can see res set 2 max 1680x1050

amd3700+ san diego
2 gb corsair
2x xfx 7800 gt

Hmm... I don't suppose it has anything to do with scaling in Nvidia CP? That is, if you even have an Nvidia card.... perhaps try altering that setting to stop it from panning.

I got my 226BW on Thursday and had the same problem - resolution stuck at 1280x1024. After contacting Overclockers I got this reply from Rob Gould in tech support:

Their is a problem with this monitor. Samsung has only just notified us with this problem and told us that if the customer contacts samsung they will replace the monitor but if you would like a refund then it will come back to us. Apologies for all the inconvenience caused.

I contacted Samsung on 0870 7267864 (open hours 8am-8pm weekdays - see http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/index.asp)

Once I explained the problem they immediately arranged for a pickup. I'm still waiting for a return phone call to arrange collection (they said someone would call within 3-4 days), and they asked me to pack just the monitor in the box.

Very strange problem - the LCD panel is obviously 1680x1050, but the wrong circuit board must have gone in. My OSD states:

Digital
79.9kHz 75Hz PP
1280 x 1024

It sounds from their reaction that there must be quite a few monitors with this issue. I only hope I will get an 'S' model again (although I'm not convinced there is a difference anyway).

I douby that the problem is really witht he monitor. My borther had this issue with another 22" all you have to do is create a custom resolution in the nvidia / ati driver control panel.

I've tried creating a custom resolution and it all does is scroll when you move beyond the 1280x1024 boundaries. I've tried different cables, on XP-64, XP Home, Vista, 3 different computers, DVI & VGA connectors - It will not work, and as you see from Overclockers response, Samsung agree there is a problem.

Remember, I said it was the OSD (On-Screen Display) on the monitor that tells me it's default resolution, and that should say 1680x1050

I have the same problem, like I keep saying. BUT! Weirdest thing, I just plugged the standard 15pin VGA connection into a DVI converter into my graphics card, and the standard VGA connection into my monitor. I can get the proper 1680 x 1050 resolution, but only in VGA not DVI!! Sucks right!

Anyway, I have tried creating custom resolutions on the DVI but to no avail. Always comes back panning around. I can get mine up to 1400 x 1050 though (see image), obviously the image is streched. Windows tells me one thing, OSD says another.

Btw, Samsung will replace it with a refurb and it most probably won't have the S type screen that everyone is talking about. Overclockers have none in stock, it's a hateful situation. At least I can get some work done while I'm waiting... Emailed overclockers the same as you and got the exact same response.

Me too :( I was hoping it was just some sort of software issue / conflict, but I tried everything I could think of and DVI never works at the proper resolution. At the moment I'm running on VGA and it works fine at the native resolution, but I don't know whether I should put up with it or return it. I mean, the screen is otherwise perfect and VGA looks fine, I just don't know if DVI would look significantly better.

This has me worried about the 206BW I've got arriving tomorrow. Been waiting anxiously for this one for weeks and weeks, the last thing I want is for it to give me problems.

Reno: As annoying as it is, if I were in your situation I'd swap it out. At the very least, you would struggle to sell that one at a later date if you had to tell the buyer that they can't use the DVI cable.

It's probably the better move in the long run, to be honest.

To be honest, I wanted to have the DVI because I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now. Mostly because I wanted my xbox 360 in one (the vga) and my computer in the other.

Like most newer graphics cards, mine doesn't have a vga so I have to convert, I really don't like the idea even if the picture still looks alright in the end. We have just paid £260 or so for a monitor that should do everything it says on the box. I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem though because let's face it, it's pretty bizarre.

I have spoken to Samsung like overclockers asked and they will only replace the monitors with refurbished units which also bothers me even though I've stressed to them that my 226BW has been tested out of the box, doesn't work. It's not my fault or overclockers, it's Samsung and it's something they should put right. Also, we paid extra to overclockers to ensure that we were supplied with an S type screen that I have learnt produces a cleaner backlight and better colour reproduction only for Samsung to replace it with a possibly lesser quality screen.

I think what I will do is cancel my pickup from Samsung and return the monitor to overclockers. I will hope that when they receive more stock they can ship it to me, I don't want a refund. It's a shame I'll have to pay the extreme postage on a 22" monitor, at least Samsung would pick it up and replace it at once.

What will you do?

am getting the same problem on mine, so am not sure if bothers me that much 1280x1024 is what i would use always anyways, might give them samsung numptys a phone call to see what is what and balls to a refurbished model i want a new one, bloody morons.
