23 mile skydive!

Are you a cat ? trying to impress us humans ?

It wouldnt survive though, it would black out, its eyes would pop out, it would start bleeding from probably every part of its body, its body also filling up like a balloon, if it were still in one peace by the time it hit the ground, it would probably land on its head and explode..

ok, lets say it could survive low temp, pressure and o2 and landed on its feet..

So what? its still dead on the floor..

There are cats whose legs can absorb it's terminal velocity.

Can't believe it's been a year. Such an awesome event. Pains me to say I find Joe Kittinger really annoying though.

A documentary on it....really?

Was it really just me that was underwhelmed by it? guy sits in a capsule for X amount of time, then falls to earth.

Not trolling, just really didn't do anything for me at all :S

It didn't do an awful lot for me either, until I to visualised a mile, turned it vertical, then added another 22 of them. That made it rather more impressive in my head.

Was brilliant when we watched it live :-)

Still an impressive feat. If you don't think it is, you need your head examined. When are you ever likely to jump from that height? If I wanted to, I could go out and by a wing suit and jump off a mountain and not be as extreme as this guy. This is hopefully advancing cheap space flight for people.

For reference (where does space begin):

I'm toying with finally doing AFF next year just to say I've done it. I'm doing hang-gliding (heading towards end of my CP training) at the moment which is amazing but still not sure if I have the balls to do AFF anymore. A fixed wing feels so much safer and I plan on flying one until the end of my days! :)

Well that's idiotic, why no fan fare. Reading a story and a silly 1minute clip hardly shows the massive successes.

Do you think it might be because there wasn't a MULTI-BILLION Dollar Marketing Corporation involved in the sponsorship of this attempt?

No, as other records don't have multi billion dollar marketing company backing and still manage to advertise and promote it.

I'd guess he's more interested in experiencing epic things like this for his own enjoyment rather than being a massive attention whore. Quite refreshing in this day and age.
