233s many mile Mondeo

How can they not have a fuel pump for a Mondeo :confused:

Apparently not one to be had anywhere in Europe

Bear in mind the same 150/180 Diesel engine is used in all manner of different Fords for the last 3 years along with various citroens and Peugeots.

just popped into the dealership to get some stuff out the car, looking rather sorry for herself sitting slap bang in the middle of the workshop

I can get one no problem pfjones in Manchester have stock but Ford wont go outside their supply chain

its the high pressure pump, although personally i'm not convinced they've diagnosed it correctly. their throwing a few other bits at it too, which their being rather coy about. 4 parts on order seemingly

in all seriousness our pricing varies wildly depending on client and location, we're not a traditional taxi company focusing more on Airport and medical repatriations. For example i'm off to Edinburgh this morning then down to Newcastle this afternoon. (not much fun in the spare taxi- a rattly berlingo)

popped into the dealer today for an update (seeing as no one bothers to call me) Mondeo sitting in their carpark looking all clean and shiny so hopes were raised only to be dashed after speaking to the service manager.

Turns out fuel pump arrived last Saturday, but they are still waiting on a gasket and fuel pipe. estimated return to stock date of the 31/03 which is a Friday means parts should hopefully arrive with the dealer the following Monday and back on the road all being well for Tuesday the 4th. 5 weeks after arriving with them.

Fired another moany letter off to the CEOs office again, not that anyone will pay any heed. but 5 weeks off the road for a Gasket and a bit of fuel hose is taking the pee. I would understand if I was running some sort of classic/exotic. but its a diesel Mondeo with the same engine as your Focus and quite a few other fords.

and the plot thickens,

popped into the dealers for a chat and a moan to meet a very sheepish looking service manager.

the gasket that they are waiting on coming into stock. guess whats sitting in the box with the fuel pump

cars going into the workshop this afternoon and should be back with me tomorrow morning for 10am

colour me skeptical but i'm amazed that as soon as question is raised to the ceos office about claiming for hire costs a gasket miraciously appears.

my moneys on a tube of hermatite and a cornflakes box lol

well fingers crossed tomorrow i'm back running about in the Mondeo,

currently running about in this badboy with its shonky autobox and 92bhp :)

i'm still not convinced its a fuel pump issue, I don't reasonably see how a fuel pump failure would result in oil contamination

but but but the mastertech with 23 years experience says so :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

anyone want to start a sweep on when it breaks down again?

i will say round about the parkhead asda...... if your going that way.

first shift back now started :)

made it into the west end at least so far, couple of locals then down to Prestwick then Edinburgh to finish the night. fingers crossed

good news just in from work and I didn't come home on the back of a breakdown wagon,

so far so good but i'll be popping by my trusted mechanic later to get it checked over properly

and a quick update,

my own mechanic says ford are blithering idiots as he drained 8 litres of oil out the car. (supposed to be 5.75) hub nuts were loose and they over tightened a few wheel bolts stripping the caps.

all in all poor show main dealer.

fast forward a couple of weeks and the tyres are wearing unevenly (the main dealer aligned the car when they changed the driveshafts. so booked in for alignment check this weekend.

i'll post a more comprehensive update when I get a chance but woeful show from the trained Mastertechs :(

How are things going with it now. Mines just had its first service at 17,234 miles.
Going to need to new front tyres soon as well they're down to 3mm. Not a clue what to go for.

what size wheels are you running? not a great deal of choice for sensible money in the 18's although I swear by Uniroyal rainsports.

Weird... The manual states 6.1 litres including filter... Seems no-one can get it right....

I assume you highlighted all these errors to the dealer?

I fired a complaint over to the Ford directors office who did the square root of nothing, as for the oil probably is 6.1 give or take a bit but certainly not 8 litres.
the one and only time they've gotten their hands on the car and they left a very sour taste, which is a pity as they are far handier than my own mechanic being 1/4 mile up the road, add to the fact they quote £325 for a service which is utterly lolworthy for a diesel Mondeo you can see why I love my indy and don't mind travelling.
