2407WFP-HC Ghosting problem - solution

the "fix" posted is supposed to help with the A00 release of the 2407WFP-HC as well, but was previously posted as a fix to the old 2407WFP problem too. Looks to be that there's some issues when the screen is not correctly cailbrated

The fix is only for some customers most 2407WFP-HC's are some it seems need calibrating to correct the problem.

This is only for 2407WFP-HC REV A00 and not all display the problem, I just noticed a lot of users slating the monitor in particular on Dell's own site when it's a simple calibration problem

Many reports and video evidence of the Dells 24" A00 having severe ghosting effects which *some say* are NOT fixable by colour adjustments though the effect may be minimized. It's been said that all monitors are like that though not many people notice it.

A guy from dell says that they are working on it and if it is concluded that the monitors are defected then under the guarantee we can all replace them for a newer revision.

Hmmm interesting because I heard a rumour a REV A01 is due out although I've not seen anything about it.

personally I don't have any moving images as I'm working with photographs so it's not a problem.

just plugged in my laptops vga out in to the dells vga. I do not see any ghosting like some of you have, even in dark backgrounds. I try to move icons around etc. but i dont see any clearly *visible* ghosting like the ones on youtube videos. Can someone give me something that could make it obvious because so far my screen looks like its flawless. I use ATI mobility 9200 for graphics

Sallermas where did you hear about the new revision?

Am getting a spyder 2 calibration tool soon. If anyone wants to use it to calibrate his screen let me know and I can help.

To quote a guy on dells forum:

I think the dark ghosting problem has to do with the heat. When I turned my 2407HC on this day, I couldnt notice the ghosting in World of Warcraft at all, it just wasnt there. I felt the back of the monitor and found out it was cold. Then I turned up the heat in my room a bit and started to play WoW. Not much later I could see the dark ghosting again and the back of the monitor felt warm. Hope the people from Dell (or anyone else) can confirm this.

After leaving my monitor on for a while now I have ghosting as well in dark backgrounds. Clearly visible. This is ridiculous

I just read on Dells forum that we are now waiting for an official response to this issue from the Displays Product Group. Should all go according to common sense we should be able to exchange our monitors when the next revision comes out without problems. Hold tight everyone

No only on the A00 and I'm sure that it's just a calibration problem not an inherient fault / problem

ps Officially Acer Monitor warranty sucks! they show 3 year on-site we have 4 at work (the new 24's) and they will either repair on site and leave you with a refurb if they have to take it away or they come and take it away , repair it and send it back within 10days! I told them to buy Dell!
