Just take all the cars on your list for a test drive, along with any other suggestions people have made that you like the look of. You'll come away with a far better idea of which is the car for you, and you'll have a lot of fun testing out some awesome machinery :D
 
Although a die-hard 911 fan those Maseratis are gorgeous and the depreciation has been brutal on them. Running costs could be high but they are definitely a nice option.
 
I agree with Eddscott about disliking the blandness of 911's owned by the seemingly unimaginative, but when done right, they can make sense:-

I have owned this car for nearly three years and am reluctantly selling at reduced price to fund an upgrade to GT3. Although not used as an everyday workhorse it is driven several times a week, averaging just under 600 miles a month since I've had it. The bodywork is immaculate, the front PU has been resprayed, the Sports Classics 2 wheels were recently refurbished and it has new Michelin N-rated Pilot Sports tyres. Under the £30k hard top budget, with the possibility of being able to haggle down a bit further too. There are other cheaper GT3-kit-fitted cars available, but this one looked rather special, and it's an owners club car too apparently.

Or actually an M3 Cab (I'd get a Coupe but OP seems to want a Cab). Always loved them. Brutel yet beautiful. :cool:
 
i couldnt see why you would want to spend 30k on a Z4 when u have a Aston Martin in your choices. i see to many Z4 for them to be a really special car.

i would personaly go for a TVR or an Exige.
 
I asked a similar question a while ago and got some interesting answers. Here's a few more suggestions some of which won't tick all your boxes but may be worth your consideration:

Merc CL55 AMG - Huge depreciaiton should get you a 2003 plate car that went new with options for £100K+. Every gadget going, quick in a straight line, two doors, practical, but not in the same league as a drivers car as some of your considerations and obvioulsy not roofless.

Chevrolet Corvette - I'm not an expert but Gibbo gave me quite a convincing argument as to why a 2006 C6 Targa would make a good choice at this budget (0-60 in 4.something swayed me!)

M3 Cab - Should get some serious consideration I feel as it seems to meet all your requirements.

Audi S4 Cab - In my opinion not nearly as good as the M3 cab but I like the styling. An RS4 cab on the other hand would be great but I'm unsure on what they go for. I suspect they're not old enough to fall into your price range yet.

Having given those suggestions, I would plump for the Maserati if i could afford/justify the running costs. For me it would satisfy an urge to own an Italian exotic while owning a relatively new car (compared to the equivalent priced Ferrari/Lambo)

Sorry dude, never understood why you'd buy a car based on what everyone else drives except to compensate for something and to project this image. M5's are about as manly as sports cars get, it'll stand out (and thats a good thing)

You could get something like an old mustang and restore it to beautiful standards, that'd be a head turner.
 
M5's are staggering cars and I love them. But, they do not stand out to most people - they look like 5 Series BMW's.

BMW devalue the stand-out-ness of their M Series range by producing Sport models that look identical.

That can't be anything other than intentional though. Their target market want an inconspicuous car with tons of grunt.

I'm sure a lot of people dream about TVRs and modified Skylines but who would actually buy one with their own hard earned cash? This forum is a prime example - how many Z4s are there versus R34 Skylines?
 
Generally speaking, once people are actually get into a position to be able to afford to buy a £30k car, their dreams of Nissan Skylines with nitrous are long gone. Attitudes change as people get older, and of course, it's most people who are getting older that can afford this sort of money.

This is why its often amusing to hear 'One day, I'll buy an R34 GT-R and kit it up'. Becuase they just wont - once they can afford one they'll buy something else.
