27" 144hz/1440p suggestions

Interesting. I've been looking for a monitor upgrade from my 24" 75Hz 1080P screen to go to 1440P/144Hz 27"

I'll keep an eye on the Viewsonic VX2758 and the LG 27GL83, They look like something I could have.

Hey guys, so a little update ref my OP.

After looking thru all the suggestions that were put forward and reading some outside reviews, I've settled on the LG27GL850 (pre-ordered here)

The specs ticked the boxes I wanted and at 470 quid, pretty much was half of what I budgeted for...so I pulled the pin and dropped in that new GPU as well. As much as I've always been an Nvidia/Evga stalwart, the price and performance of the RX 5700 XT, stacked up against where I'd normally put my money, was a pretty easy decision.

Seeing as I was going to go all in on a new screen for £800, to get both for the extra 120 quid just made sense.

Once I've taken delivery I'll post up my thoughts and hopefully it'll help anyone else who's looking for a similar upgrade to their screen :)

I got the LG27GL850 yesterday. It arrived from Germany...
So far really happy with it. I don't exactly have a good point of reference though as my last screen was 15 years old.

Sounds like a fantastic combo! Well done.

They've all been VA panels so far.

I just realised this after I posted it. I had a quick read and thought I spotted it stating IPS.

It is indeed a VA panel. There are those of us who have been waiting for a flat, 1440p, 144Hz freesync, VA panel for a while and this one looks pretty good.

I believe pre-order price is around £279. I've not looked much further into it though. I'm a bit torn on what type of panel to get really.

My use will just be for gaming and general browsing to be honest. I guess whatever is best for that. I don't really have much of a clue about the panel differences.

It's a bit of a contentious issue but broadly -

TN - bad for colour, really poor viewing angle, excellent response times so often the choice of 'pro' gamers.
IPS - Excellent colour, and viewing angle, not so good on contrast ratios or decent black levels. Good response times.
VA - Almost as good as IPS for colour, restricted but still good viewing angle, great contrast ratios and blacks, response times OK (getting better) but some people report smearing.

I like VA for the balance of colour and contrast, and am not a twitchy pro FPS player.

Thanks. I think I've always had TN panels but willing to try something different. I mainly play FPS games. The response time is reported at 1ms for this panel. Not sure how true that is.

OP, Apologies for jumping in on your post.
