for me with an older i5 3570K the step up to the 2700 has definately been worth it (even at 4K)

As I surmised I can overclock the CPU to 4.1 on all cores at 1.4 Vcore and in games I don't really see a difference. In benchmarks I ran 3D Mark and CPU score went from 7462 to 8992 which is about 21% gain for a 28% overclock so not to bad. Temps at idle are in high 30's and not checked under load. I'll leave it at this for a while but might just decide to go back to stock.
