How many did you go through? :p

Gerard, that 8800GTS does 620/1.96ghz fine, overclock it abit more :)

i had a sparkle 8800GTX on release that had the faulty resister so it broke not long after 2 weeks of having it, i then got a replacement which i had for 2 months before i got sick of crap drivers from Nvidia. I then got a X1900XT for a stop gap and then a 8800GTS 320MB XXX had that for 2 months before selling it for this 2900XT.

I am now more than happy with this 2900XT :D

Prefer to keep iot clocked down a bit, especially inside the shuttle where airflow is almost non existant.

Whats your idle / load? I got 55/84 with that card, my new 8800 at 650/2.2ghz gets 55/77.

:O well that shows the 2900 outperforming the 8800 in all but HL2, very impressive figures especially at that res and AA/AF. Was the 2900 OCed?

Before we get to what I think about the swap lets talk about these, you say they are running at 1920 x 1200, I say they all must be compromised settings on the 2900 i.e. low or no AA & AF, no HDR, Obviously no VSync, also looks very much like calculated guess and made up scores judging by the figures and comparisons. If the 2900 is so good why would I even contemplate in changing?

Made up scores my arse, ive had both cards, i benched the 2900 when i had it then done the same with the gts when i got it. Wtf would i benefit from faking scores of a card i no longer have?

Now to the swap, Will you seem like an honest person with a good reputation on here, better than me anyway. I can understand your doubts about me as I have the same feelings, The 2900 has improved slightly with the 7.5 and Valve have fixed the DOD fog which was one of my main performance concerns.
Weighing everything up I think we should halt this as it's a lot of hassle and risk without much gain, both cards are up and down and there's not an overall winner, the reason I wanted to swap was mainly down to the noise/heat/power issue but I decided I'm going to get the Maze block and water cool it, that should be the solution for me as it wipes out the problems that come with this card while being able to overclock and surpass the GTS's performance, around 825/2050 should do the trick.
I'll just keep this thing until the G92 comes out and see what the next generation brings.

Will you should do the same as it's clear now nothing is going to be gained apart from testing the relevant card in the swap and I pretty much know what the GTS is capable of anyway, if you like the Ram offer is still there for whenever you want.

So judging by that sentence you've currently got a GTS right? why would that be if you think the 2900 is so much better? Ok how would you benefit from these fabrications? simple, it's what a AMD/ATI fan boy do.

I, for one, and there are probably plenty of other people here are fed up of you complaining about the ATI card. If you don't like it, get rid of it and get a GTS, just shut up complaining.

OK mr "steam game expert"

The reason i got the gts was the shuttle psu wasn't up to handling the 2900xt at load for long periods of time, some games would run fine, others would totally shut down the computer after 8 or 9 minutes play.

How do we know you actually have a 2900? Maybe you actually have an 8800gts and simply **** the 2900 for the hell of it and no one would really question it as you 'own' one. Hey will thats why he doesn't want to send the card because he doesnt actually have one :p .

lol just kidding. :p

If your ever change your mind about swapping then i'm ready, this GTS can be boxed up any day and shipped off.
