Is it not just that the 400w PSU isn't powerful enough for the card?

I know woozer's running 2 X1950's with similar wattage draw overall, but they might not require the same boosts of raw power that the HD does.

Bad analogy: You can hook up 10 100w bulbs (1Kw) to a single light socket and get away with it, but connect a 1Kw bar-heater and it blows the fuse.

Im pretty sure its the chipset causing the probs, i took the stock fan off and placed one i had sitting around on it, usually r6-vegas would crash inside of 2 minutes, this time i was able to run around for 5 or 6 before the system shut down, again the hsf was pretty much roasting hot. Just ordered some thermal epoxy and im gonna epoxy one i have siting around to the chip.

The benchmarks on 3DMark06 look nice, very tempting. It's just the AA that puts me off..

Gerard, how much juice does a FX60 take? mines a C2D at 3.4Ghz. My N/B gets hot, I just refitted the heatsink with AS5.

Welcome to the world of shuttle problems with highend components....

Yes i seen this auto shut down while playing games on my shuttle sn26p many many times :( I think it's when the PSU get very hot then it's power out drops which then causes the shuttle to restart...

Try checking your PSU temps when your CPU & GPU are both under full load..(belive me your PSU is going to be cooking and so is your top mounted harddrive)

That VGA Powerup looks like a great idea! People with good quality 350~550w PSUs can just add on one of these if they want to go SLi/Crossfire, instead of having to upgrade their main PSU.

Ok mines not exactly "High End" but with the CPU @ 2.6GHZ and the 7900GT at 540/1500 i also had heat issues.Removed the stock fan shroud and stuck a faster flow fan on the outside [after trying loads of different options] but still used to get the odd crash in BF2.Rigged up a 80mm fan blowing direct onto the chipset and it cured it.
 
The Shuttle 400W Power Supply has a PWM Fan, you can here it spin up under heavy load, I presume Gerard can here it spinning up? it's an indication of how much load your heaping on it.

Yeah, I have a N/B Waterblock to fit next time I play with mine, the heatsink gets very, very hot.
 
Think its time to admit defeat trying to get this to run in a shuttle, it'll run for 10 mins tops before the northbridge is scalding hot and it shuts down. Tried a couple of different coolers on the bridge and no change. Seems the shuttle has finally met its match, a card that does fit inside but is far too heavy on requirements for it to run stably. :(

Well I'm just waiting on the mythical 8.38 drivers to appear, hopefully they'll improve matters in most games, certainly the benchmarks look promising.
