Sell it up then, Im bored of hearing 2900 complaints :p , have you reported the bad performance to ATi? via Catalyst Feedback.

Read the last line ... Catch 22 :(
I don't think its unreasonable to expect better perf than previous gen :)

Course not and clearly the 2900 can perform better than that report it and you have a chance of it getting sorted. That is an old game now so I doubt its top of their priorities atm :(

Is there a HD2900XT overclocking thread? I think we shouild get peoples overclocked.

I got 900/2.1 last night and I think it can go further , bet it can get 1Ghz on watercooling.

I doubt that is a stable overclock, a run of 3DM06 will test it and post up your results if it makes it. ;)

Bah you was right :(

So you think 850/2Ghz is the max? I got stable in 06 with that but kept saying submission failed so never knew my score

On my card the memory isn't stable at 999mhz (1000mhz increases the latency, meaning it may actually perform ever so slightly worse, but that only matters if you're trying to get the best possible score on 3D marks). However I can do loops of 3D mark 06 @ 865 core and 975 mem.

I jsut did 3DMark06 at stock clocks but E6600 @ 3.2, ram at 4-4-4-12 900, I got 10427.

That sound right for Vista 32bit?

What tool are you using to overclock with? i get the best results with the AMD clock tool, ATI tool seems unstable at anything above 850 on the core. 1010 on the memory and 880 on the core, they are what i used to get my new 3DM06 score.

I use Riviatuner, I'll uninstall it now anyway and use AMD clock tool. I just tried it again and got 10700

Got AMD Tool installed, and ummm, well thermal sensors aint working

You need to highlight ASIC and then click on enable reading and then start it, you don't need to bother with LM64.

For vista that sounds about right, since (I think) on vist you tend to lose a few hundred 3d marks. With my E6700 @3.2 I get about 11~ (can't remember, been ages since I bothered benching my card).

With my card @ 865/975 and my CPU @ 3.4ghz I got 12,156. So with vista and the same speeds you'd proberbly get 11,500+ :)

I got 11467 when I overclocked my 2900 to 850/975, so that sound about right?

I'm starting to miss XP.

CPU was at 3.2Ghz.

Yeah, that sounds about right, considering your CPU was slightly slower (upping my frequency by 0.2ghz boosted me from 11,900~ to the 12,156).

The performance drop that vista gives in 3D mark isn't as bad in games afaik. And the fact that some DX10 stuff that doesn't run at 5fps~ makes vist a little more worth it too :p

XP F T W, i have Vista in my desk, i wont install it until i see some major performance in the DX10 titles coming out and if the visual difference is hardly noticeable between 9 and 10, ill stick with XP. IMO vista has one thing over XP and thats DX10, the rest is pap.

My 2900 overclocked 06 score is exactly the same as my 8800GTS at 650/2.2.

Can anyone try 3DMark 06 at 850/975 and there E6600 or whatever at 3.2 in Vista 32bit? Just want to put my mind at rest as to weather this is a normal score or not because it seems in LP DX10, Dirt, Oblivion, CoH, GRAW2 my 2900 is underperforming compared to what other people with the 2900's get.
