3 Network any good?

I've been having a play on the sim tonight and I am impressed so far. Some key differences I found:
1. The 3 App is better than the Vodafone app, it allows full control of my account and provides useful info on what to do when I want to 'do stuff', it also just works, no need to log in etc.
2. Data speed seems excellent at home where Voda gives me 2-3Mb down:
3. The automated voices on 3 are faster paced than Vodafone's, I dislike having to wait and listen to options, 3's system is slick, I set my Voicemail up within seconds, for example.
4. I actually have 1.17GB of data allowance a month according to the account area and 3500 texts instead of 1GB and 3000 that I've signed up to!
I look forward to having 12 months of good service to be honest!
I might just pay the early termination charge with Voda and get my PAC early

Either way its still pretty decent, but it does go up and down. Customer service with three is pretty crap, unless you speak to people higher up. But generally you cant beat the phone contracts for all you can eat + tethering

In an interesting turn of events I received a call from Vodafone today after their system "triggered" an alert because I was a long standing Vodafone customer (6years+) and they offered me a 600min/2000text and 1GB internet deal for £10.25 a month, now I've requested they call me back later on today and I forgot to ask if that was a 12 or 18/24 month sim deal but it seems a good price.
Now my situation is that the 3 sim I've received cannot be returned any more so I'm stuck with it at £10/month for the next 11 months. I could easily run both and still save just under £10 a month over my current outgoing tariff..
It would also mean that if I keep one of the sims in the car then if I do go somewhere that has weak coverage of another network and I need data services then I can swap the sim over.
The lady said that they have better coverage than 3 as she had all the network maps in front of her but of course each network would say that about their own service
I'd prefer to migrate over to 3 after getting my PAC code in late April as the reception is stronger and as such my phone would drain less battery at both home and work.
I wish they'd phoned me back when I posted the Op as that's when I started enquiring and they didn't offer anything quite as good!

Having double backed on the coverage maps again myself I can see that Vodafone's coverage is more patchy than 3 for high speed data connectivity. Voice only reception appears to be no different between either. I check various postcodes for friends and family I often visit around the country and 3's map looks much better.
Sticking with 3.

My number ported over at midnight as promised by the automated PAC transfer system on 3, was rather painless process that took minutes.
Anyway., just re-ran some speed tests and full bars HSDPA where Vodafone was giving me 1-2 bars indoors.
Speed is also a lot faster too.
The real test will be from tomorrow night onwards when I'm in Sidcup staying over. 3's coverage map says there's high speed coverage there indoors and out. Vodafone would only get Edge reception there.

And that's why I chose 3, because their maps showed better coverage than Vodafone at places I visit most hence also why I'm posting updates with my experience confirming that what they're saying/showing is in fact true.

Thanks for continuing to update this thread Mrk, it makes for interesting reading as a current Vodafone customer.
I'm looking to keep my iPhone and move over to 3 pay & go come later in the year. £15 per month for 300 mins, 3000 texts and all you can eat data is a steal with those kinds of data speeds!
