30/11 Strikes.

People who drift along doing the bare minimum contracted work.

Mugs

Was that aimed at me?

I've been nominated this month for our "Extra Mile Award" without doing a minute of unpaid work.

Quality, dedication and excellence at work != hours spent working.

I will have a go. Perhaps a cheeky Darjeeling and a scone. Thanks. :)

Police rest days can be cancelled like confetti for what it's worth and normal working time directives go out the window when the job demands and to the point where Brendan Barber would cack his pants.

I know the feeling.....Cancelled leave, redeployment at a moments notice etc....sometimes on route home after a tour and turned around before even reaching blighty.....:(

No recourse to strike either...oe even work to rule for that matter.

Still you sign your name, you pays your ticket....

This is true, but don't forget that, all else being equal, the employee that works more hours will have more to show than the colleague that doesn't.

Right, so are we reduced to simply insulting the other side?

OK then, so public sector workers are all skiving layabouts who would happily do no work all day and then strike if someone asked them to.

Private sector workers are posh pinstriped ******** who would sell their grandmother for a profit.

Now, what have we achieved? Nothing. Idiot.

Yes, to paraphrase Castiel - they show they have time management issues :-)

I don't believe I made any distinction between public sector or private sector.

And i don't appreciate the personal insult thank you very much.

I don't appreciate being called a mug, which you have called me by proxy, but once again we're back to the classic OCUK problem, that you can insult a whole class of people but you can't insult an individual.

everyone on facebook said:
Remember when Teachers, Civil Servants, Ambulance staff, Nurses, Midwives, Doctors, police and Fire Fighters crashed the stock market, wiped out banks, took billions in bonuses and paid no Tax? No, me neither. Please copy and paste to status for 24hrs to show your support against the government's latest attack on pensions and public sector workers.

Hnnnggggh.

Just because a lot of people believe it, doesn't mean it isn't nonsense...

Believe me, I have no doubt it's nonsense. I'm quite tempted to put together some snarky response about how public sector workers don't generate wealth, and pay less tax than their wages cost (by definition) and what have you... The only thing stopping me is that our neighbour across the road works for HMRC and will be striking and I already get flak off them every time I moan about strikes.
