That is crazy wide! Are games distorted on the side edges or does it look ok? Reason I ask is when I have tried playing with nvidia surround across 3 1080p screens the two side monitors have a stretched view. Just doesn't look good.
A lot of games are stretched (so yes distorted) but still look good to me as they fill in your peripheral vision so are super immersive. Almost as immersive as my Vive headset.

I'm going for a 3090, because reasons... but there isn't a res thread for that.

I game at 7680 x 1440 - 80% of the time, sim-racing (acc / ams2 / r3e / rf2) etc.
The remainder of the time its either 4k or in VR with a valve index @ 120hz where possible, again, sim-racing, which in the case of ACC is demanding as F*.

This is what I'll be gaming on, using my 1080GTX to power it now, so hoping for a big uplift from the 3080, 5120 * 1440. Samsung CRG9 49"

No VR users???

VR resolution is not something we all set ourselves it's goverened by the headset? I'm on a 970gtx which is showing age so the 3080 will overhaul that. For 2d gaming I've paired this with a Optomo UHD42 so max in 4k is 60hz but in 1080p it's 240hz which will let the 3080 run wild.

Detroit Become Human in 4k VR would be nice.

1440p 144Hz g-sync. GTX3080 is not overkill for this, if it was I'd have constant 144FPS with full ultra settings in games like RDR2. I don't have that, but I have a very nice 90+ experience there.

Nice setup. What plane(s) do you fly?

Favourite is the A320 as enjoy country to country flying and the challenge of landing a big plane at tricky airports e.g. Salzburg

Also there's a number of cessna's that are good fun to fly for sight seeing

Also enjoy playing DCS flying the A10 or the F15

Recently received my MSI Gaming X

1440p 165hz G-Sync for anything first person, fast paced or that I feel more comfortable using a mouse for.

And I recently bought a 50” 4K 60hz display for chilled out third person games and for PS5 when it releases. Currently playing RDR2 with a controller and switching to m&kb on my Corsair K63 lapboard for moments that require shooting. It’s brilliant lol this game is officially the most visually stunning game I have ever seen

I'm looking at upgrading my monitor, and in turn will need to upgrade my graphics card to suit.

I'm looking to change to an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor, and my initial thoughts are that a 3070 should do the job amicably, assuming it is indeed roughly on par with a 2080ti.

Am I right in assuming that the majority of 3080 owners have chosen this card for 4k gaming, or are the majority of you running less than 4k resolution, and upgraded just because it's the latest card?
I'm still waiting on my 3080 but already rocking 3440x1440. My current 970 sli is long overdue this upgrade.

Really hoping that the 3080 will allow me to up the settings on a number of games, while the games look great and the screen is amazing, just getting some more FPS and higher details will be nice
I'm sure it will be a massive jump. Right now I tend to be on high settings for most games but Im sure it will be ultra all the way on the 3080. We are talking over 100% improvement in performance and as the screen is not quite at 4k pixels I am expecting max settings on everything.

Of course on MSFS it will still be a bit ropey as it only uses DX11. I really hope it gets a DX12 update soon.

1080p at 144Hz but as soon as I can get my hands on a 3080 card upgrading to a 4K 120Hz display.
My current GTX980 can't really push more than 80 frames anyways it's due for an upgrade.
