3090 Worth it Over the 3080??

are you joking. Have you not heard of depreciation?
As soon as gpus get flooded to the market and if or when the 4 Series GPUs come out, anyone who paid scapled prices will take a huge loss on depreciation!

I.e. pay £2500 for a 3090, in 6months to 1year it will cost £1700 , if those 4 series cards come out, your 3090 will probably cost £1000 and that depends on the price of those 4 series cards. If they are priced similar to the 3 series cards, you would end up loosing 70% of what you paid, so your £2500 card will cost like £750 come resale.

I am referring specifically to the 3090 FE at £1399, the MSRP. The OP got one of these not one of the ludicrously overpriced ones. The chance of selling the 3090 FE and then getting a 3080 FE is small and could involve weeks or months of stress which is why I said it's not worth it.

AIB 3080s and 3090s are ludicrous money and are not worth it, even if you can find them in stock.

Don't regret getting mine! Awesome card, and dropped my CPU temps by 10 degrees too, due to the cooler exhausting hot air out of the case.

Undervolting works great. Tried 0.95V at 1950mhz and it dropped power use significantly.

So it has just arrived. I have had the chance to unpack it and wow, even the packaging feels very premium and is in a whole different league to my 1080TI FE packaging wise. The card it's self is quality, it is built like a brick, really feels rock solid. Not sure how AIB's are going to compete with this cooling solution. I am going to install it later on, but right now 0 regrets.

Slide the sliders to the far right and hit 2100-2200mhz in non RTX games, who cares about saving power on a card like this!

I have it installed now. The card is hitting its power limit and only boosting to 1800MHz. I have only played Warzone and NFS Heat so far, but both are running maxed at 4K 60fps+ constantly.

Don't get me wrong - If I hadn't managed to procure a 3080 I'd have gotten a 3090. But this thread is 3090 owners trying to make out a 3090 is MORE sense (even with 'monetary values applied wasted looking for a 3080).

If you wanna go high resolution, high hz, then 3080 /3090 and AMD equivalent, are the only cards. But to pay 3090 prices for the performance uplift over a 3080 never made sense. 3090 if you wanna game high res high hz monitors NOW, because you missed out on 3080.

I think he means the cooler on the 3090fe is better than a 3080fe, which is true it's much larger, larger surface area and larger fans. Also 3080fe's are really hard to get compared to 3090fe as with all 3080's really.

What PSU are you using and have you got any pictures of the case with the card in to show the cooling for the case ? If you have shadow of the tomb raider try that too to see what your boost hits max, use GPU-z that way you can check the max it hits and the average and lowest boosts and same for temps too.

Ah OK, what I mean is to say that just because the 3080 is hard to get and the 3090 is cooler, as a gamer, still doesn't make it worthwhile at all. Thread title says 3090 over 3080. NO! JUst more likely to get a 3090. Avid gamer (me) paid over for the 3080 (early on). This thread is 3090 making out that 3090 prices are now worth it over the 3080, maybe if you dont get forums and months of discussion.

I was not sold anything I wanted a 3090FE (if I did indeed not sit out this gen which I was going to after mess of launch) but many want a 3080 and cannot get one so who is happier, esp as my 1080Ti FE and Titan Xp (2017) nearly paid for it?

I have both the 3080FE and 3090FE, the 3090FE is about 10c cooler and quieter than my 3080FE when swapped in the same system. In fact, the 3090FE is also quieter and cooler than a EVGA 3090 FTW Ultra I have. The 3090FE cooler is excellent.
