30xx Series Founders Edition

It’s funny as I think the 3090Ti is good value compared to the 3090.

It’s probably because I paid more (stupidly) for the Strix oc than what you can buy a 3090Ti for.

I still feel like Nvidia have given 3090 owners a kick in the teeth.

Always the way, bet the 3090Ti wasnt released when you bought yours. There's always something round the corner that is better. Could say the 4000 series if widely available will be a kick in the teeth to 3000 owners that paid waaaaaay over the odds.

I see the bottom 6900XT's are only £50 more now, with a built in AIO so I think I'd plump for that over the 3080ti

I think my issue is the fact that the 3090 was pitched as the flagship.

I know there’s always something better but I expected that to be the next gen 40 series release.

To me it would be like if Apple released the pro max phone and then released a pro max plus in the same gen. I’d only ever expect the better phone to be the one released next year under a new number.

Guy to watch on here is Kaapstad as he goes for THE flagships. ON release of the 3000 series he said that the 3090 wasn't the full fat GA102 chip. Easy to miss in the 1000's of posts and beginning of the threads. Same with the 3080 12GB, it is a much better 3080 with even that nipping at the heels of the 3090. No FE's though so quite expensive.

But when I bought a 3080 at the beginning I thought there would be another upgraded version as the 2000 series had the 'supers' released. Your 3090 was flagship at the time. And apart from graphs, the difference is 'measurable', you'd never feel the difference in gaming, you just had that high end performance earlier on the 3090.

Only benchers will want to keep getting the absolute top cards, as somehow running a benchmark to get a bigger number.......is fun.

Jensen said in the 3000 reveal that the 3080 was the flagship and that the 3090 was some BFGPU aimed more at content creators.

Was the 3090 not pitched as the 8k gaming card?

I didn’t actually watch any press conferences or events etc.

I built my pc quite late in the cycle (2021) and thought the current gen parts were established at that point, and was not expecting a 3090Ti.

The same way I wasn’t expecting amd to release a higher end chip that the 5950x on the socket.

I know they have had XT variants in the past but still….

Agree. When the regular 6800XT were going for £1100ish, I recommended someone get the 6900XT on another thread as in the BF sales you could get one for around £1300. As usual you get one triggered member gib in saying this was a terrible idea..

I think we all know none of the high end are great value at all, more so when people scoffed the 10% wasnt worth double the price, but this assumed the 3080FE was on shelves, available which it never was and most AIB 3080's were £1200.

The current issue is although the prices look more attractive, the refreshes are due but the main problem is we are not far away now from Ada/7000 cards.

I think they have a 6950XT card comonmg on the AMD side that trumps the 6900XTXTXHXTXHHTXHXTHXHXH

It really wasn't. The 3080 was launched as the flagship! ;)

Ah ok. I’m just bitter. Lol

I could stomach it if the 3090 prices stayed the same and the 3090ti was priced higher.

But even though the 3080 launched as a flagship everyone knew there would be at the very least a Ti version right?

Nvidia saying the 3080 was the flagship is a half truth, of course it was a flagship at release as it was the highest end version but everyone knew there would be something higher coming.

The 3090Ti was unexpected I feel.

Well the 3090Ti lets not forget is what 18 months after the regular 3090.. some people have been gaming for ages and cough, recouped that outlay or better! ;)

Absolutely, but some also thought the 3070 super edition was releasing which ended up shelved. What we did see however is 12Gb versions but we don't want to go there! ;)

Yeah I wish I had discovered the simplicity of NiceHash much sooner…lol

I'd have done the same at the time, full lockdown and a keen gamer. I felt stung paying £100 over RRP at the time (Oct 2020) on an AIB 3080, but was worth it for being in lockdown, had to make a quick decision from a part alerter that looked at UK shops. FE's were an 'F5 mash fest' and down to luck.

:D When Nvidia reveal the pricing of the 4000 series, they'll use that ^^ to embed the doubling of prices. Set by people paying scalping prices.:D

As a 3090FE owner for 18 months, I don’t. I always expected a Titan rather than a 3090Ti but there’s no difference really, and I’m not bothered in the slightest.

Most people have been running their 3090’s with similar speeds as the 3090Ti anyway, couldn’t see any point in “upgrading” to the Ti.

But.. but 5% and cheaper than the 3090 :mad:
But.. but the 3090 never was good value to begin with :p:cry:

That’s nothing mate, the kick in the teeth and shaft up the backside will come in 6 or so months when nvidia release the 4070/80 where 3090 Ti performance will be had for around one third of the price with better ray tracing to boot

3090 ti good value? ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ .

Same. I made best of the bad situation and didn't complain. I was aware of mining which is reflected in all of my previous purchases, its not every year you can make it work (i.e. 2019, 2020), not that I was 'happy' parting at the moment, however it didn't take many months for it to be paid for and those which didnt mine were the ones out of pocket when free assets were on the table. Some folk forget this.
