34" UltraWide decision

So for the money Wellibob would you say its defo worth it? I have tried the dell but like yourself I didnt get on with it plus the glow in the corners was terrible, from your pic the AOC looks great and cheaper.

I'm happy with it definitely. All IPS screens have some form of glow, it just varies. I'd take a VA Panel anyway over IPS but that's me. In use the colours and how vivid it is, it's quite stunning. It's a shame that it costs £500 or more but that's another story. Try and see it yourself.

Happy with the dell, I like the curve but as you say you get a weird effect at the edges if you sit too close.
Monitor is level, just the camera wasnt.

I'm really enjoying the 21.9 AOC (with the G27) but my 1080p set up in mancave (42" LG) with the G27 still feels as good. What I need now is a 42" or bigger 21.9 screen ;-p

A curved screen is all kinda wrong too me. Distortion.... err No thanks (especially when you pay extra for it). Only reason I can see why curved sells is because it may look nicer because everything before it was flat due to manufacturer design. If you like curve fair enough but I won't be told it's better because it isn't, well to my eyes anyway ;-p

Ive just paid £989.99 for the Acer X34 Gsync so I'm hoping this wont be too much of an issue for me. From what I understand its better than 3 monitors, which is what I have been looking at for a while so fingers crossed I like it. It will make that price a lot more unbearable if I dont :(

I suspect the curve and the mild distortion that inevitably comes with it, will be down to the users perspective. Me I'm not a fan of "the curve" as the technology currently stands

I'm looking at the Dell curved display right now and I'm not sure what this "Fish-Eye" effect is. I know what a fish eye lens is and its nothing like that. In general use, you don't even notice the curve. :) I do a lot of photoshopping etc and I was apprehensive about the curve and it's really not a problem what so ever :)

There we go. The curve is suited to some people and not to others. I guess the fish eye effect t is probably inappropriate but in the curved displays I've seen the curve definitely affects how things display that's different to the flat panels. As long as your happy I guess it doesn't matter. I'm obviously used to flat panels and anything that adds curve to my eye adds some kind of distortion especially at the left and right of the display. It's a bonus to me the flat panels are cheaper! ;-p

I've been asking myself the exact same question for ages and I've finally decided to go for the LG 34UC97. I haven't got it yet but I'll let you know what it's like when it comes.

I found that indeed sitting a bit further back was a side effect of using a ultrawide. I'm so trying to fit everything into my field of view ;-p

Arms reach for me, as my vision isn't too great. This has the effect of hiding the fish eye effect and giving far more within my peripheral vision. Great for racing games or rocket league. I can block like a pro. ;)
