35" Curved 3440 * 1440 200Hz Curved QDot FLAD 1000 nits

Yes a 1080Ti is perfect for 3440x1440 60/100hz. I love my pg348Q.

But in most games your going to be struggling to get anything above that without reducing quite a few settings to get near the 144hz never mind 200hz.

This is true, although the noticeable benefits beyond 100Hz are diminishing, and as has already been mentioned, 200Hz is just a gimmick. Not that anyone is going to turn their nose up at Volta or whatever follows the 1080Ti, but this monitor is hardly going to prove 'useless' if you already have one. Of greater concern should be actual game support for HDR, which I suspect will be hit and miss for a while. Xbox Scorpio should actually help in that regard though, as no doubt that will push devs to cater for it.

The Asus seems like the ideal upgrade from my current 34UM95-P. 200Hz, HDR, Qdot.

It's not the OLED tech I was after, but damned if it's not the closest we will probably see any time this side of 2020.

Yup, the new monitors are gonna have to be something special to deserve their £1500+ prices!!! I picked up a near perfect PG348Q for £600 yesterday, that's gotta be a sweetspot imo

Lucky sod :p. Mine cost me £1100 although truly is a stunning monitor both for media work and gaming. 100hz is epic as well.

Yes very true i could never tell beyond 144hz and 120-144hz was minuscule. 120hz is what i want as i can still tell some difference between 100-120, although it isn't massive. Why im interested in the new asus panel. Although personally would prefer a cheaper native 120hz only version than the 200hz.

Another thing, I really HDR does take of for gaming otherwise having games only run in normal SDR mode will kind of make these monitors pointless over any current 34" 1440 100HZ unless you badly want 200HZ.....

Yeah, you just know they've gone 200Hz so they can charge extra for it. I'd be MORE than happy with native 120hz... there is no real need for more than that.

I think it will, but it's going to take a while. I think with Xbox Scorpio there will be far more developers catering for it, as obviously it's a big selling point for that platform and all those people out there who have HDR ready TV's... even though most of them aren't ACTUALLY capable of displaying it properly ha! There will be a distinct irony if owners of HDR PC monitors benefit from the console market being catered for, most of whom don't even have a TV that can fully display HDR.

I would imagine these to have a nicer image anyway. My QDOT TV gives a better image with much better black than my current X34.

Well that will be down to the VA panel vs IPS. VA is always going to deliver better blacks, although colour accuracy is not so great... which is why IPS is preferred by graphic designers. The specs for this monitor though, despite it being VA, seem to promise something quite special for colour reproduction. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I imagine the backlighting would make the biggest difference between this and my X34 other than HDR.

Yes, that will certainly help. I do think this has the POTENTIAL to be a stonking monitor... my biggest concern is the fact it's an AUO panel, whose track record for QC is less than stellar... putting it mildly! That said, it was their IPS panels that were so appalling, so perhaps they can do a better job with VA. I would also hope Acer/Asus have the sense to realise QC actually does matter and no one is going to accept shoddiness at a £1500+ price point!!

I am out on this i decided last night when Titanfall has a 144hz limit i wanted to change my wishlist from 1440p 200hz ultrawide G-Sync to 2160p 144hz ULMB. I think the price will be lower for a smaller but much superior image. Maybe i will return when Overwatch has support and the image is around 5K which would be the same as 16:9 4K.

From what i have now i simply go from DSR 4K with Eizos 240hz ULMB so i only gain 24fps and proper native 4K over DSR. All that for £1500!

Being a VA panel, that 200 Hz is going to go largely to waste with black streaking. VA doesn't really have the speed to cope with more than 100-120 Hz.

I would even say that 100hz is a stretch unless there have been made some sort of improvement to the va tech over the current ones like the mx34vq uses. Ive had the mx34vq and pixel response could be better.. a lot better infact. On a side note, im not touching anything Acer or Asus in the monitor space any time soon. Sticking with Dell. Seems like least hassle. To bad they dont focus on an ultrawide made for fast response gaming.

Well I hope those who wanted the asus have deep pockets. Just seen it's now in stock at anothe retailer at £3k list pice

Great looking screen and I may have been tempted as an upgrade from my 4K screen but not at £3k. How can anybody justify that price when you look at oled and quantum dot TVs?

I think VA is a walking duck surely now with IPS and FALD? IPS HDR screens probably match VA now with blacks the only problem is waiting and price gouging. And if retailers scramble to buy all the stock cough Gibbo the price is going to be even higher! It will easily be £2k in the UK its the 4K screen mortals only have a chance of owning. Im even now having second thoughts on that because ive recently taken to noticing the choppyness of motion at 120hz. And its making me sick if i watched a slo mo video of 120 versus 240hz whoever said 100hz+ has dimishing returns clearly is misinformed.

Motion blur reduction will not be available at 200hz and IPS still has issues with frames taking 5ms or so your going to still see blur and notice animations getting smoother. Really if you did some looking around you would see that without strobing modes, Your going to need at least 240hz to get a perfect image. Im really not sure what to do i was going to eat my words and maybe put this back on my list again but they need to justify the 200hz motion blur for £2000. With fald it would probably be worth the money to some people like me.

Then again you can have a 4K 240hz screen in 16:9 for £520 but you lose some pixels, And have to trade IPS FALD for TN just to gain 40hz.
