360 controller on pc?

I installed drivers after doing a search for "360 controller x64 windows 7" Microsoft page had a driver listed, which seemed to work nicely ;o

Ah yeah, the play and charge kits don't work as a way of connecting wireless pads. Has to be a true wired controller or the wireless dongle. I spent ages trying to figure it out lol.

I think it's because you are using the charge and play cable to link it to the PC via USB, I tired this too and it didn't work for me.

Have you tried a wired controller as well because I'm pretty sure this will work fine :)

Epic fail!

The wireless controllers are just that - wireless. In no way, shape or form will they ever send signals through a wire.

Tried different usb port and it auto installed.
Is it just meant to work in games then, or am I meant to do something else. wireless dongle should be here tomorrow anyway.

They must send some as it installed as a 360 controller.
And it isn't a fail. I ordered controller, receiver and a plug/play cable to charge the battery.

I have/had a wireless controler with a plug and play kit for recharging, I plugged it into charge the other day and it exploded. was a pop and smells like burning and now it doesnt work :(

Did you buy the wired one?

If so and its still not working i have the setup, used on my W7 64bit and it works so :) i can upload that if needed

weird, it was plug and play for me (wired controller) using Win7 Ultimate 64bit

Same for me.

It will automatically work in all games labelled "Games for Windows" in the same way as if you plugged it into an Xbox. It will also work in most other games - some need xpadder to setup. Find and older free version - it is a very useful tool.

he bought the wireless one.

btw when you get your receiver once the drivers are installed for that then you will not need any for the joypad/s.

Doesnt it annoy you that us pc gamers are being kinda made to get these xbox gamepads, its just another way for dev's to port there consoles game easier.

Yes and no.

Driving games the controllers can help because pressing W (or whatever) is like driving flat-out all the time whereas the 360 controller you can drive more gently by gradually pushing the (topleft/right) buttons in.

This is true i suppose, and if you did want a gamepad for racing, then xbox's is probably better out of the bunch. i didnt think of that part.

Not really, controllers just work better for some kinds of games.

I just see it as an added advantage, I can choose my control system and use a controller for racing games where it's clearly better than a keyboard (and also massively cheaper and more convenient than a wheel) or stick to my kb and mouse when I play an FPS.

Better integration of controllers is only a good thing really, it just improves the choice and ease of PC gaming.

Nope, nothing worse than when you have 10-20 controllers on the market and games that support a random selection. I like that most games now support the 360 controller and have been optimised for it. Plus, if this makes the PC more desirable as a platform for programmers - I am all for it.

Once you get the wireless thing, it'll work

I bought the wired version, I prefer having a wire, means I'm less likely to make the controller do flips when I rage. My Wii mote has been lucky that I've always caught it :D
