they're half the price of a ps3. crazy what peopel think is pricy and what isnt lol

When compared to the price of other PC speakers, they're definately pricey.

It's all relative matey.

when compared to an av amp and speakers, they are a drop in the ocean....that wasnt really my point but i think you know that lol.

its funny watching somebody call a £200 set of speakers pricey when they are going to be connected to a £400 console. im sorry but it just is lol.

What utter tripe.

As far as PC speakers go, they are in the top 10 percentile price-wise. This deems them 'pricey' in my eyes, as there are other far cheaper options available. This is the same way that I'd deem some Tesco's finest sausages 'pricey' at a fiver when compared to some standard run-of-the-mill bangers at two quid.

Are you suggesting that it's necessary to spend over 50% of the console's value on some speakers to hook up to it? That, my friend, 'is lol'.

You could use those. Would be a little messy, though, as you'll need to go through a dual phono to mini-jack convertor.

Your best bet would be to get a set of speakers with an optical input.

Are there any other speakers with optical input?

lol. i wont go there, 'what utter tripe' is a bit confrontational isnt it? lets get something straight - this is a console with high definite video AND audio specifically in mind.you can play on a 14" portable crt and use its built in speakers if you wanted, but that's somewhat missing the point of a £400 high-def gaming console isnt it? if you have a tight budget then thats another matter...

like you said, it's all relative matey;) the difference is, im quite happy with people having a different opinion to myself:) my only point is, i dont think £200 is a lot of money when your spending that much on the console:)

I think he means it is pricey relative to what the product he is buying actually is. I saw rugs in Harrods the other day that were half the price of my car, ok I paid twice as much for a car......but a rug for several thousand lol.

This is what you want

Notice it has two optical inputs for a console and PC.

= £139 at a high street hifi shop

Then add 4/5/5.1 speakers of your choice. Used speakers can be had quite cheaply off the bay.

FYI, 'high definite' audio is only available by connecting through HDMI and is only available for media. For games, the best you can acheive is 5.1 audio through an optical (or indeed HDMI) connection.

Now you're talking TV's, which are a different kettle of fish entirely. Of course it's worthwhile spending as much as your budget will allow on a decent screen.

A 'tight budget' has nothing to do with my considering the Logitech's 'pricey'. I'm hardly on a tight budget myself, and have a set of Gigas hooked up to my PC along with a DDTS-100 decoder, though I still consider £200 for a set of PC speakers rather pricey.

If the only point you're making is that some people have more money than others, then well done, give yourself a biscuit. :)

i have that amp but mine only has 1 optical and 1 coaxial got it with speakers and active sub woofer included from a high street catalogue shop on a clearance deal for about that price

decent amp for the money think the audiophiles will turn there nose up at it but i cant complain for the money i paid

really shines when you give it a Dolby digital signal 360 is great through it

But is there any 2.1 speakers with optical input? I don't like having 5 speakers etc.

Yes, this receiver/amplifier, but you just connect 2 speakers instead of 5.

you could add more speakers later if you wanted.

combine it with these for £69

or even these floor standers @ £59 a pair

depends what you want, but that amplifier is a good purchase. it has a remote control and a lot of input choices
