3950x vs 3900x

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) goes for around £114 (F4-3600C19D-32GVRB), is C19 but with bit power and the help of DRAM Calculator might do 3800C16, if not then 3733C16.
If you want better ram, £230 G.SKILL TridentZ Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 3600C17 that would do 3800C16.

The options are easier and cheaper if you are find with dual stick 16GB.
With a 3900X @ €530 (~480/490) you would be set.

I know but to be fair even my old i7 7700k was. complete overkill and whipped through both LR and PS. Probably better than my new 2700k so just would like a little of that single core performance back and given am already on an eight seems silly to buy another eight core now when I enjoy building ott machines.

A 3700x is £338.99 on ocuk right now and a 3800x is £389.99

I bought my 3900x for £479.99

Best cpu I have ever owned PERIOD....and I’ve had hundreds over the years...

I shall wait till the 3950x comes out and pick up a second hand 3900x for £250!!!

Same, 12 core beast in 2 years time will still be ridiculously OP tbh. Its a chip thats too advanced for anything in this current day to take advantage of (in terms of mainstream desktop use)

Amen on that.

And is not only gaming like X4 which uses 10 cores (not threads) but other things I do like Fusion360 etc.
 
Blimey, I can't even use 8 cores, nothing utilities this 3700x, if Cities Skylines utilised it with all these assets it'd be running like lightning.
 
Well as an update I’ve bought the ram 3600/16

Still no idea what CPU. Realistically I would like a 3700x as it’s only 65w but it’s only 20%(Ish) faster than my 2700X and am not sure that’s worth an upgrade.

Should wait to see how the 3950x pans out too
