To enable 3D in my games I seem to have had to activate a trial version of NVIDIA 3d vision. When the trial runs out what am I supposed to do?
I have two GTX 570s, and have recently got a 3D television with it's own passive 3D glasses.

I don't understand why I have to pay Nvidia for something I can already do, what would I be paying for? Is this a misleading marketing campaign?
To acquire a serial key, I am taken to a page on the Nvidia site that encourages me to buy a new PC or Monitor :/
I can't seem to find much information on the matter.

I'm sorry to bump this again, I can't seem to enable 3d gaming without this sodding 3DTV free trial thing. And I can't remember what I installed or set up last February to get it working. Can someone please help out a moron?

After enabling 3d vision I only get greyed out options like this : https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2JgGUE1GeTZcHZCM25iZkNPbTA/edit?pli=1

The post I found this image from was from an Nvidia forum and of course the solution they provided was to purchase nvidia 3DTV...

Uninstall the drivers and download the latest. Install those and run the stereoscopic 3D setup. And that should be it.

Tick the box to do a clean install.

Thanks greg, I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and reinstalled them clean but the options are still greyed out. And I still can't figure out or remember what I did last year to get it working. Googling the issue yields little of value.

Can you game in 3D? I think I am missing something in honesty and when I do it, I get this screen.

I have never used 3DTV in truth, so maybe uninstalling it (unless you use it of course), as I imagine it is a 3rd party app and works along side the stereoscopic setup screen, as you can see, that isn't an option for me.

The test application works fine, and I can game in 3D and change the Nvidia 3D settings but ONLY when I've started the 3DTV 14 day trial.
Though when active, the display type says Nvidia 3DTV not my TV model. Which gives me an idea to reinstall my monitor drivers...

Edit : That didn't help.

It looks to me like Nvidia have either gotten rid of or are deliberately hiding '3D Vision' and replacing it with a $40 3DTV Play. I am miffed.

Right, I did some searching and seems you are playing 3D on your 3D TV? If so, nVidia say this is fine as long as you have a 3D emitter plugged in but if you don't, they want paying for it.

If this isn't the case and you are on a monitor with a 3D emitter, I have no idea sorry.

@Neptune, you really should give Tridef a go if your having problems, it works fine on Nvidia.

You got my attention.

Source please gregorio, afaik, the emitter is incompatible with native 3D panels as it causes flaky shutter times(Nvidia glasses) with interference from the panels inbuilt emitter.

Hence why Nvidia has 3DTV play(neutered Nvidia 3D).

:)

3DTV Play is free for owners of a Nvidia emitter, the only catch is it must be plugged in at all times while using the feature. Also, your TV must be on the supported list for it to enable plus you'll need a Nvidia GPU capable of 3D. http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-system-requirements.html

If your TV is not on the list try this http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2774

And I believe it will be plugged into your PC and not the TV :D

Do you get the 3d tv play program with the emitter or is it free to download once you have bought said emitter?
I have a new Samsung 3dtv and would like to give it a try

No idea but I think you get a trial period, so no harm in finding out. It will be a download but I have no wish to use it, so not looked into it.

I refuse to pay Nvidia to un-gimp their driver software. I guess I'll use an alternative method until I decide to upgrade my monitor.
