3DMark06Available 18/01/06

Looks good, but no 1 has stated that this is a benchmark for NEXT GEN GAMES, all these games are going to at least run on dx10 to match the quality seen in 06.

Id imagine UT 07 will perform similarly to something between the 3dmark 03/05 era, which is what these benchmarks were there for then.

So even if it runs slow dont worry, by the time games come out that look and run like this, we will have upgraded hardware twice over.

Remember they say themselves its to see how CURRENT hardware runs NEXT GEN games..........and i think when they say next gen it will mean a games engine thats going to come after UT2007 'type' engines

Hmm when looking at that review, it seems that 3dm06 is more of an Nvidia benchmark, especially if you compare the x1800xl and 7800gt. I always thought they were about equal in performance, but the x1800xl is like 20% worse then the 7800gt :(

The Gt performs better in games though, maybe 06 i just more fair? ;)

Anyway, I expect ATI to release so new and improved drivers where they amazingly find some bug that was lowering performance by 20%.... :p

Perhaps Nvidia hardware just handles the kind of engine used in 3dmark 06 better, just like ATI hardware could handle the vertex intensive 05 better.

Looks like this might actually be much better than 05 for measuring real world gaming performance at least. Would be nice, as no 3d mark has managed that since 01. :)

And I dont think this one will either ... benchies are ok for some things, but when buying hardware I prefer to use the reviews that use actual games as a source of comparison, preferably in 16x12 (as thats closest to my native of 1680x1050) using 4xAA ....

Actually ... as Ati can do HDR and AA ... I wonder if thats reflected in the score if you enable that in 06 ... I will have to give it a go :)

I wonder if they're going to learn from all the other major releases and put up a torrent for this.
