3DMark06Available 18/01/06

Just finished my first run on my old rig with the following spec:

Athlon XP 3200+ @ 2.3 Ghz
1 Gb Twinmos PC3200 ram (crappy timings)
Geforce 6800 GT @ 405/1050

2547 3dmarks
SM2 1124
SM3 1012
CPU 807

The CPU tests are just painful to watch. Dont think the counter went above 0 fps once. I know its an old CPU, but I dont know why futuremark cant write a CPU stress test that is at least close to watchable. Should also warn any overclockers that these test really heat up the processor, if you are on the heat limit, back off a little before you run.

The SM3 tests are very nice, if a little slow. :)

I really do not understand that, why not make it so that something like a Barton gets a decent framerate with scaling upwards for faster CPU's, it's a CPU test why make it so stressful, it's not like the coming year CPU's will evolve as fast as GPU's :confused:

Sure? In the about window, i have version 1.0.1, the patch is for 1.0.2.

I got my download from gamespot earlier on after 1400GMT, maybe they updated some of the download links already?
 
I really do not understand that, why not make it so that something like a Barton gets a decent framerate with scaling upwards for faster CPU's, it's a CPU test why make it so stressful, it's not like the coming year CPU's will evolve as fast as GPU's

Yeah it was crazy, mine was pegged at 0fps, 90% of the time, and 10% it was hovering on 1fps ......if that. Its hardly like a CPU will come out in the next 5-10 years which is going to make this even run at 30fps..........so i dont get the point in the cpu tests at all.......

The torrent I'm downloading has the filename 3DMark06_v102_installer.exe, so I assume all the downloaded versions would be.

Raikiri I am using the 5.13 drivers and I have the clocks set at stock, I will push them to 690 and 800 after i run the stock test and my CPu is set at stock and will stay there!

My download is about to complete so I will post the results within in the next 45 mins! ;)
