Guys ,

Been researching 3dtv for a while now and ive decided to go for the samsung d8000 led 46" one at appx £1500 - 1800 , I like the look of this set and all it's features. But I am not sure if I can justify the price , as my missus is doing her nut about the price of a tv, can anyone suggest a set better than this or give me some assurances that the d8000 is the one to go for , the set needs to be a good all rounder as I will use it for sky hd , ps3 and my media centre for hd content i download in 1080p, my heart was set on the d8000 but my lady has got me thinking now if it's the right choice , I have a budget of 1500,

Any suggestions?

Regards
Dog

Panasonic TX-P46GT30B has better 3D technology, atleast it looked that way when I compared both the D800 and GT30 in store :)

Is your room bright or fairly dark?

if it is fairly dark.. why not go down the plasma route, which for a bigger size would be the same price you are paying now? Also hd content will be better on a plasma than LED.

You can get the 50VT30B for 1600 ;)

I have looked at most samsung led , just discussed with me lady and really need to drop my budget to a max of 1100, may push it to 1200 , so I now need to rethink , as the d8000 is out of the window

From an owner of the exact same 46" D8000 I would buy exactly the same TV again tomorrow should anything happen to mine. My wife couldn't tell the difference when I switched from normal sky to hd that is how bad she is when judging picture quality but even she has said she loves the quality of the Samsung.

I am not saying the other suggestions are not superior when comparing side by side but the whole package for me from quality to looks and slim design sold the D8000 for me.

Seriously if my bro in laws Sammy 55d8000 led tv's are anything to go by. I can't urge you enough to steer well clear. I have seen them working in the shop and they look fine but at home in your front room they look crap picture quality wise really really poor, imo the only time his tv looks great is when its switched off. I would go as far as to say they are defective and shouldn't even be for sale. Now being a smaller panel than my bro in laws 55" might well help you and it might be better, but if I was you I would choose picture quality over looks of the tv every time. If 50" is too big for you and its a 46" tv you are after I would seriously look at the (Panasonic TX-P46GT30B 46-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p 3D 600Hz Neo Plasma TV with Freeview HD and Freesat HD) IMO a much better tv for normal viewing and 3d and its less money. If that's not your cup of tea then look at full back lit led tv's (Sony make some nice ones) or better still other plasmas. At the end of the day though its your money.

Thanks for the advice guys, never had a plasma before, what are they like gaming wise on xbox and ps3?? Compared to led???

Plasma's are better for playing games on. Panasonic TX-P46GT30B is the one for you and it will keep ur missus happy:D

Went to my local store and had a demonstration on this set LG 47LW650T 47" Full HD LED 3D . Was really impressed with it , and was only 1099 , so I am thinking of taking the plunge on this. Anyone got this set?

i have it, and bought the lg bd660 3d blu ray player with it for an extra £75, im very pleased with it, the 3d is very good and the 2d to 3d upscaling is not to bad also

My front room is like a green house, so its very bright, will plasmas be ok??

The Panny GT30 will be ok as it has a filter to stop light refecting as much as a run of the mill plasma, as plasma's are worse in bright rooms than lcd. But in the dark it will give a much better picture than the LG. I have the Panny vt and I have had no problems with light at all.
