I think this might be the final setup, though I'm going to have to shop around to bring the price back down to closer to my budget - overclockers seems to be a tad more expensive in regards to all of the components except the PSU at the moment when I checked via ************, I wonder if they'll match prices

OCUK might be a tad more expensive. They might be able to match some prices.
However, ive bene there done that in the past.buying components from all different companies to get the lowest possible price its time consuming inconvient with deliveries all over the place. Also if something goes wrong most retailers will be like "contact the manufacture" as they dont have a clue about the products they sell.

The guys at OCUK will always go over and apove to assist with warranty issues etc. Also Get a little bag of Free haribo :) lol

If your gaming at 4K won't you be VRAM limited only having 4Gb?

I think I've decided against a 4K display for now after the feedback from others here and the research that I've done. I think I'm going for a super wide QHD display, probably the LG 34UC97.

When I finally do make the move to 4K I'll probably upgrade the cards to something with more VRam. I think the two 970's should be perfectly fine for the LG screen.

Thanks for the input though :)

Thanks for the advise pigeonguyuk, it makes sense to go with a single supplier. I'll see what the guys at OCUK say, would be great if they are able to match some of the prices I'm finding.

I'd hang back on the LG for a little while as I've heard that AOC are releasing a £500 34" superwidreen (1440p). Apparently its only a few weeks away. If its anywhere near as good as there 144hz monitors it'll be a real bargain.

VRAM won't be a problem with 4k anyway. Considering no single card can get anywhere near maxxing 4k VRAM has very little affect.

I dont think ocuk can price match, worth an ask though.

Quick update. So it looks like I'll be putting my order in at the end of next week. After further research into the effects of having the additional PCI lanes on the 5930K I've come to the conclusion that I can safely save some money on the CPU by going down to the 5820K without really taking too much of a hit to the performance. I've also decided to reduce the 1TB SSD to a smaller 512GB one and decided to get a 3TB HDD for general storage. Here is the updated setup:

Looks really good, whack some LEDs and braided cables in? Perhaps ask pexonpcs to make you some braided cables, seems a shame to have such high end hardware but not show it off to it's max :D

If you are using Win8.1 don't get the H100i, get the H105. It has some compatibility problems with Win8.1 (Corsair Link)

Thanks for the heads up on the H100i, I didn't realise there were issues with it.

I think I'll take your advice and get some braided cables, maybe in white and blue or just white. LEDs are a must too :)

I'll be sure to post some photos of the build

Ah...yea....that would look rather nice! Though I see you've added 2 motherboards, I'm guessing thats a mistake. How about white and blue rather than red?

Oh, and I don't need a mouse, got a Logitech M550 that I love using, so that should bring the price down a tad.

Thanks btw :)

I would personally consider 1440p over 4k. You dont quite realise how small the icons are when using it.

Swap for a 980 and get a 1440p panel.
