4.8ghz on 3770k

4.7 seems like a nice overclock. Im gonna do some more tonight as i made adjustments that 8 pack made and my 4.6ghz is solid. Think I will try for 4.8 after work.

If i were u id try the bclk at 100 and a multi of 47. see if its stable as well.
let me know how that goes and what voltage your hitting so i can try later.

47x100 is happily stable for me, with 1.24v in BIOS which goes up to something like 1.25/6 on load (again might be able to go lower)

had some stability issues with 104x46 which I think is down to my RAM (even though on my old motherboard it ran at 2133 quite happily, on this motherboard it just wont boot at 2133) so i'm trying 47x102 = 4793 MHz with 1.27v on load (1.25v in bios)

The CPU Vcore should not be higher at load than at Idle. LLC is set too high. Vdroop is meant to occur to some extent.

What speed is your RAM at now. Higher up you said it was at 1040mhz which is way too low to be anything like efficient. Ideally you want to be around 2133mhz. Cas 9 with that RAM at 1.65v.

I thought the memory on CPUz was x2 so 1040x2 = 2080 MHz?

It's certainly not set to 1040 in the BIOS. Is a memory voltage of 1.65v safe for 24/7 use?

Will adjust the LLC accordingly.

Also 8 Pack is Prime95 still a good tool for stress testing or am I better off using something else? I know there isn't a better stress tester than doing my usual stuff like gaming etc but would be nice have a program to run without loading up all my games ha

I think Intel Burn Test is the best for checking stable stress testing (full maximum) but maybe 8 pack will know and tell us what program is best for stress testing

Yes your correct you do have to double the frequency of RAM shown in CPU-Z to get your effective frequency.

I use my PC to test stability and rely very little on synthetic type software such as Prime etc.

4.7GHz seems to be the limit unless you start putting big voltages through which is a shame :(

I changed my fan configuration on my build and seem to be getting better temps under load using prime.

I changed the 2 fans on the Kuhler 920 so that they suck cool air in.
Theres a 140 fan blowing air in, on the gfx card
and another fan at front of case bringing air in.
i have 2 120mm fans at top of case blowing the air out.

That pretty good temp for ivybridge crazeconnolly for that kuhler 920 water kit, I always wanted to get ivybridge i7 3770k but I just too scare cos of heat problem on the ivy than sandy.

Cheers mate, Call me Chris :)

I thought the temps were good. a little better than what they were. In high 70s...

with it running so well on 4.6, i dont know if i wanna go higher now lol

I use this machine for gaming on windows and music production on osx
(its a hackintosh as well)

so im quite happy with its performance.

The only thing I can do now is get a 6 or 8 core cpu lol

Chris

It looks like that is the sweet spot for your chip. Now make that clock efficient with RAM tweaks.
